On a slightly related, kind of funny note, I rode down in Florida the last few days with the “senior” crew. My God, they can’t go 1 mile without calling out every freaking minor piece of road debris or hazard. While I appreciate the heads up, it was a bit maddening. I know the older folks need more reaction time, and I’m very glad to see our seniors riding, but it got a bit ridiculous.
Ride went like this:
Potholes coming up in 1 mile!
Truck may be pulling out on the right (it was parked)!
watch out, sometimes there are tortoises here!
watch your speed, kids are out here (no kids in sight)
Cracks in the pavement are up ahead (there were tiny cracks)
The light ahead might turn yellow!
It was slo-mo information overload of useless information, and both sweet and maddening at the same time. Ah, Florida.
Somehow the fact that the Merckx bounding circle is incorrectly drawn triggers the engineer in me… seeing it framed up will have my eye twitching every time i look at it
