This one also made me lol
Did you read the story? I think he has a point … he was really making two observations, one about the amount of detail they have about the route these days, and another about the culture that says that you have to be at the front of the race at all costs to avoid trouble. Anyhow … this is the jokes thread so I’ll quit the boring, serious analysis ![]()
On a slightly related, kind of funny note, I rode down in Florida the last few days with the “senior” crew. My God, they can’t go 1 mile without calling out every freaking minor piece of road debris or hazard. While I appreciate the heads up, it was a bit maddening. I know the older folks need more reaction time, and I’m very glad to see our seniors riding, but it got a bit ridiculous.
Ride went like this:
- Potholes coming up in 1 mile!
- Truck may be pulling out on the right (it was parked)!
- watch out, sometimes there are tortoises here!
- watch your speed, kids are out here (no kids in sight)
- Cracks in the pavement are up ahead (there were tiny cracks)
- The light ahead might turn yellow!
It was slo-mo information overload of useless information, and both sweet and maddening at the same time. Ah, Florida.
Florida sounds nice, we are just starting to thaw out right now. I could use some sunshine

Somehow the fact that the Merckx bounding circle is incorrectly drawn triggers the engineer in me… seeing it framed up will have my eye twitching every time i look at it

Yeah… that thread got me good this time; I should probably mute it.
Ikr, i find myself listening to the commentary when Pogacar is racing and thinking “here we go again”. I really hope not but mmmm.
Nice. Where did you get it from?
I thought wiggins ran 165mm for his hour record
