Have you tried zwift on the HD8? I saw one guy on the zwift forum say he had it side uploaded and it worked well
I use a Galaxy Tab A. Interestingly, depending on the model of Tab A, some support BT and ANT+ and some are BT only. After the last Android update, my BT only Tab A has ANT+ enabled so they are the same hardware with software disabling the ANT support.
Samsung is pretty good about ANT+. I did the math and can replace a Garmin with a Samsung A40. I need wifi to set up routes and the like, but out on the road, it doesnāt even need a sim-card.
I use IpBike ⦠itās only available for Android and in all practicality, only Samsung. Sony has a few models with ANT+, but for Samsung it seems to be the rule, rather than the exception.
Iāve not tried Zwift. I think that Zwift is more processor heavy. You can always try as Iāve seen the HD8ās for ~$25 on ebay (used).
I wanted to add that Iāve just sideloaded Google Play Store and then TR onto my Kindle Fire 7 tablet and it all seems to be going fine so far.
Iām preparing for when the lockdown happens here in Japan, so I can take my TR rides āoutsideā into my garden rather than in my training room where I use TR on a windows desktop.
lol⦠I donāt use TR on my phone unless in a pinch but still am rocking my iphone 6S Plus as it works great.
actually a co-worker pointed out itās a 5s. Oh well, it serves its purpose
I still use my 6S Plus with the lighting to hdmi apple cable to stream my peloton digital app for treadmill, yoga, stretching, etc to my tv. works great.
You can try the Dragon Touch X10 or the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7". Both fits the budget and works well for music, browsing, streaming and such. Excellent for moderate use.
Kindle Fire 7 with bluetooth or ant+?
Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7" with bluetooth or ant+?
It donāt support ANT+
Mine does. When I bought it, it didnāt (only certain models of Tab Aās did) but after the last Android upgrade it suddenly started working. They all probably have the hardware and some were limited by the OS
What galaxy model do you have?
Galaxy Tab A (2017) model number SM-T380. I did have to install ANT plugins from the play store
8"?
Yes it is.
I have micro USB adapter for Ant + etc. After sideloading Play/TR I down loaded Ant+ Tester. IIRC it told me I needed to download in Play:
ANT USB Service
ANT Radio
and
ANT+ Plugins.
It recognised and paired with the 4iiii ant + which Iām quite glad off because on my other bike which is off for service only has a ant+ power meter.
My phone downloaded them too I think but automatically.
typically you download apps through an app store and install them. With android, you can find the .apk file on host sites (legitimate) and download and install the app directly yourself. Works well for fire tablets because their app store is limited compared to apps that use the google app store.
