Can you transfer power-sport training responses to endurance sports?

Hi all,

If someone has a high training response to powerlifting, can that training response be translated to an endurance sport like cycling? I realize the muscular adaptations are on completely different spectrums, but does that also mean that the responses the athlete has are also on completely different spectrums?

Thanks in advance!

Interesting question. It may depend on why you were a strong responder to the power lifting stimulus. If you are on the high end of general athletic ability, that is, you can pick up about any sport quickly you may find that the same occurs for endurance training. If you have an usually high fraction of fast twitch fibers then you may find you are not a strong responder to endurance training. Regardless of where you fall on the endurance spectrum, just do it and enjoy the ride.,
