Can you finish your FTP ramp test?

The ramp test is only 25 minutes long, the wattage does nog increase indefinitely. Currently, i think my ftp is higher than trainerroad has estimated. So possibly, i could get to the end of the ramp, and then I would get into recovery, before I’ve gotten the chance to given it my all.

So the question is, will the ramp test continue indefinitely until I stop pedaling, or could I accidentally ‘complete’ the workout?

Thanks in advance.

  • The Ramp Test only looks like that for a simple picture. There is no set time or end for the test.

  • It will extend in duration as long as you keep pedaling, and it increases the power target 6% at each minute. They made it dynamic, not fixed as it may appear from the profile picture.

Why would you go and tell him this? Why ruin the entertainment value of challenging him to try and finish it? You’re taking this forum moderation thing too seriously. Throw some grenades! It’s a FRIDAY!

Maybe it’s different on my end but I beat the ramp test.

Filming yourself “winning” would be the only valid use of the Strava video function. Certainly a lot more entertaining than uploaded Zwift videos!

Goodness, this is my first time asking a question on the forum, didn’t expect to be humoured and answered within 10 minutes.

@mcneese.chad thanks for the clear answer and @FrankTuna + @mimod + @ZackeryWeimer thanks for the laughs!

You bet ya I can finish the ramp test, hold my isotonic.

Just to be clear though… There is no such thing as the Erg “spiral of death” for Chuck Norris.

In Zwift, you finish ramp test.

In TrainerRoad, ramp test finishes you.
