Building an impomptue recovery week

If someone (not pointing fingers) were to have got over excited and instead of a deload week they’d done a bunch of sweetspot and temp workouts and now post ftp bump (only a few watts mind you) are thinking that maybe a deload might have been wise what would the best way to do that?

Don’t think moving a rest week backwards is good as that’d then mean I (er my friend) would have a long block without deload, conversly adding one in for next week would mean I’d (dammit I’ll put my hands up, it’s me, I went ham and skipped recovery) only do a week before the the scheduled one.

How long (is a piece of string) is enough to deload? Tomrrow in yellow has adapted to easy, and outside chill on Sunday and mon/tues manual change to recovery would give 5 days starting back to long supra threshold on Thursday.

I know TR will tell you do a full deload week with endurance rides, but I’ve had coaches before that programmed deload weeks with moderate intensity, just lower overall volume and shorter interval durations. Really depends on your training history, what phase you’re in, what’s coming up next, etc, hard to know without seeing your calendar.

I’m theory I’m in specialty block but not really as I don’t have many events - may is a C gravel race and August is a 200km audax.

Think a I just need a little bit - heavy legs and tired.
