Currently on a “Increasing FTP” plan for 4 months, finishing on March 15th. Outdoor season for me starts roughly mid-april/early-may. I don’t have events per se besides for some fast group rides I’d like to perform better at.
For the remaining month or two, is it recommended I pick a specialty phase directly or start a new plan (like getting faster for group rides) of a 1 or 2 month duration, restarting with a base phase?
I’d always recommend using a full training plan over stand-alone training phases.
Don’t be afraid to simply pick a plan that represents your goals if you don’t have any events on your calendar.
Otherwise, if there are specific group rides that you’re looking to target, you could put those on your calendar as races to make things a bit more interesting and tailored to a specific performace.
Regardless, you’ll get faster by hopping on and following a plan.
Let me know if this helps and if you have any other questions. I’d be happy to help you get things set up in a way that works for you.
