Anyone considering GCN Race pass?

I still have the issue on my 2021 Samsung TV :man_shrugging:

Yes I have a 2021 TV

Considering buying some sort of streaming package to watch cycling here in the US? Is GCN+ the way to go?

For the US, you either have to piecemeal things together from GCN+, NBC / Peacock and FLO or do GCN+ w/ a VPN.

Cheapest solution is GCN+ w/ VPN unless you are an Xfinity customer and then You get Peacock for free. But that still leaves you out for a smattering of races covered by FLO (mostly races out on by the UCI…so Worlds and the CX World Cup races, primarily)

I’ve had it since their first week online. I think it’s the best cycling content platform available. They actually have lots of races available in the US. Yes, they don’t have rights to races like the TdF or other ASO races, but they’ve race coverage pretty much every week and almost everyday at peak season. I also love the films/documentaries they produce. I have Peacock and Flobikes too. GCN+ crushes them IMO.

Just got a 2 year VPN subscription, and will be renewing at $50 in Feb for GCN+

I think with the VPN, I get all the races I want and probably that many again that I don’t care for. So I’m good on cycling for 2022 now, and will see about 2023.

Tried to log in today with vpn on and gcn is acting like Im in the US. The gig may be up. Anyone else having issues

My VPN connection is working just fine…

Which vpn do you use? And just to confirm, todays world cup CX races show in your feed?

Nord and yes, today’s WC CX race was exactly what I checked.

Thanks, i use Surfshark. Guess its just a problem with them.

on nord as well, can watch todays cx race.

Try clearing cookies for the gcn web site?

Nope :-1:

It is entirely possible that their DRM stops VPN access but I don’t think they’ve got that enabled since the last time I checked I was able to take some screenshots and can view the stream in VLC (with a couple of hiccups) so I’d say it was just your VPN today.

Another CX WC race with no commentary.

I have the same problem using Surfshark. Worked great last year, but doesn’t load anything when using it now.

I think you need to watch the “includes live show” version to get the english commentary. It ends up with the men and womens races all together in one video. Technically the “about” tab below the video (on web, anyway) tells you as much, but I only recently noticed it myself.

Thanks for this tip…when I went to watch the Men’s race yesterday there was indeed no commentary, but when I used the “Live Show” option, the commentary was there.

Annoying as I had to search hours of other coverage to find the men’s race, but at least I got it. Still seems kinda dumb the standalone tab doesn’t have commentary.

My buddy has gcn racepass and loves it. I have eurosport over a vpn. Sometimes watch races over the phone together. But he does not get a lot of what I get because of regional blocking. I need to get him setup with a vpn.
