Anyone considering GCN Race pass?

is there any recommended VPNs that folks are using that work well with GCN? Asking as I am sick of paying for Flo in Canada and their garbage service.

I am using SurfShak and works with GCN.

I used Proton VPN (free) last year with GCN+ and it worked well for the Giro. Tried it earlier this year and the free version wasn’t fast enough, either a fluke or throttling. Didn’t bother and put up with Peacock for all 3 grand tours.

My router now supports VPN client mode. And ability to only tunnel traffic by device. So I can just tunnel the AppleTV and only when using GCN+ app. That with paid ProtonVPN is my plan for watching cycling in 2023.

I have Successfully used ZenMate for a couple of years. Sometimes I need to change the country I route through to get the best speeds but otherwise no complaints.

I’ve been using PIA (Private Internet Access) VPN with good success.

One thing I’ve noticed is that last year, living on the east coast, I got pretty fast ping times to the UK or Switzerland. Now I’m on the west coast and I’m getting 200+ milliseconds. It works but it’s not as snappy. I haven’t really found a closer end-point that will give me faster access so that I can watch the UK feed with the Breakaway.

Surfshark has been working for the last 6 months, there was a period of 3? Months last winter where the player detected a vpn and it would not work.

Another ZenMate user. I signed up when they had a 3 year special which made it very reasonable

I am using PIA with eurosport. Never an issue.

Have you tried Proton VPN paid yet? I just installed the free version on my iPhone. If i connect to the Netherlands, GCN+ freaks out. I don’t get far enough to see if it’s slow or not. Rather, the app goes into some sort of refresh loop.

I’ve been using Express VPN without problem but my subscription just expired and I’m seeing what else is out there. Express VPN is expensive.

EDIT: Tried again a few h later and watching a race replay on GCN+ with Proton VPN free seems fine. This is Tennessee to to the Netherlands. Knock on wood…

Tried the free version of Proton VPN earlier this year and it was too slow to stream. The paid version includes support for running a VPN to my router (TP-Link AX11000), so I’m going to try again in 2023.

Hello, today I got my Apple TV 4K 2022. GCN App installed and works.
How can I fast forward or go to the last hour? I only found the 16x forward. But this is really slow.
Thx to all!

Pause the stream and then use the touch pad portion of the remote to scroll forward…but even that is pretty slow. It helps if you move your thumb slowly, though…you can then fast-forward more minutes for each pass of the pad. Counterintuitive, but it works.

Oh, wow, I did it!
I need always a few tries to get in that mode…

Thank you so much!

Ugh. Escape Collective is reporting that GCN is up for sale. A possible buyer is Outside Inc. :face_vomiting:

Maybe Escape Collective can find enough coins in furniture cushions to buy GCN, as I hate for OLN to buy it and kill it like they did with the cycling publications they bought

Why is that bad?

I don’t know of anything Outside has purchased and made it better for the consumer.

There’s a high chance they’d be buying it to close it down to force more users to another platform they own or plan to start.

My 2 or 3 years of GCN+ have been great, as so much more coverage than my NBC Gold and so much cheaper than other options. (I do run VPN).

But, if outside were to buy, I’d just ditch in a heartbeat and do VPN and some euro service.

Guess I need to make sure I work my way through the documentaries on GCN+ this winter.
