I just started my Speciality phase last week and the first workout was a Threshold 9.0 which was a breakthrough ride. I was surprised but I managed to complete it OK. The next day was a yellow day so the planned endurance ride became an easier endurance ride. The day after that I got sick.
I’ve marked 5 days off in my calendar as sick days, but AT now has my first ride back as a Threshold 9.5 - building off the last one. I don’t think there’s any way I’ll be ready for that, I was in bed for two whole days.
What is the expectation here? I wondered if AT would ease me back into things but it looks like it doesn’t! Should we keep marking days as Sick days until we’ve ramped back up ourselves and are fully ready to go again?
IDK, but in another recent thread a TR rep confirmed that TR adaptations don’t account for why days are taken off. You’ll get the same response whether time off was for vaca, sick, or whatever. For a few healthy days off, form should increase enabling a subsequent good hard workout. If those days off were sick, then maybe not.
When the day of the workout comes, if TR hasn’t change to workout to something that’s an easier level then I say use Training Alternates and look for a workout of the same type but lower level.
Complete that just to know how your body feels and let TR adapt from that.
I’d also say that if you’re looking to just get back into the swing of things slowly, you could use TrainNow to have TR pick endurance workouts for you to try until you get your legs back.
