A Time Trialing Thread

I am more enjoying the fact he is just using standard round poles to smash the British nationals. Of course he is aero, but turns out doing 450w for 40 odd minutes probably helps

How do they all manage to keep their overshoes up. I even tried two stripes around my leg of adhesive spray for socks (ā€œhaftiā€ - got it recommended by cycling friends), but the only main difference was that it felt like I rip my skin of once I started pedaling in the aero position on the TT bike. Guess I have some weird foot movement that pulls on the leg part of the overshoe. I have no issues at all with aero socks slipping.
Any other ideas? When I did field test Rule28 overshoes to my teams sponsor socks the overshoes were marginally faster, even after they pulled themself down.

I’ve used kinetic tape on some of my overshoes (and TT-suit legs) that became a bit flappy because they are worn.
I also got the comment that I should go more to the gym when putting it on :joy: But hey, it worked and I was way faster then the guy commenting, so all good

Guilty. I got my Aerocoach titan front today. Now I have to decide if I ride my Enve 5.6 (when it’s windy), the Aerocoach Titan (not windy) or the Revolver Troika TMD (not sure when to ride, no wind the Aerocoach should be faster, sidewind the trispoke scares me).

Genuine question: Anyone ever tested the difference Brake Rotors have on drag? My LBS didn’t have my trusted DA rotors anymore, so I fancied Campagnolo ones. Do I put those onto the Aerocoach Titan, or rather salvage some of my other wheels DA 9100 rotors (the one with almost a full size cooling fan)?

I got the disc brake covers by Revolver… however, according to SwissSide, the difference even between a 160 and a 140 is virtually nonexistent, so I doubt the XTR rotors are slower than the DA rotors or vice versa…

They do claim 0.5 - 1W for the single sided and 2-4W for the dual sided versions .
I guess I’ll just switch over the old DA ones from my climbing wheels and get the fancy new Campy rotors on those (once I got a rear 140mm). Weather forecast says no wind tomorrow, so I want to try the new front-wheel before either my final test TT on Thursday, or my A prio race on Sunday, the state championship (yes, Bavaria for some reason always has that in July).

Edit: For whatever reason my DA brake rotors wouldn’t fit the Aerocoach wheels, so I went with the Campy…
Overall could be more satisfied with the wheels.

  • They could include a pump adapter to reach in there, I luckily got one that somewhat fits.
  • Got carbon separation where they drilled for the screw that holds the valve cover (not major, mainly cosmetically as far as I can judge)
  • I shim all my brake rotors, reference (wheels w/o shims) are my old Enve 5.6. The Aerocoach needed half a mm to align which is quite a lot (Roval needed consistent 0.2mm, Revolver I don’t recall)

But look at it

Interested to hear your thoughts on the Titan vs Troika. I’ve got a Troika Max and considering buying a Titan (used to have one on my rim brake ShivTT), but not sure it’ll be worth it.

FWIW I have the Revolver disc cover on the front only (old single sided version), and I can’t imagine it making a difference over a DA rotor, though I haven’t done any testing.

Not sure I can say a lot after tomorrows ride. My main concern with the Troika is the weird / sketchy feel when you get hit by a gusty sidewind - which we got quite often here. From this years (sadly only) 2 TT races I didnt use the Troika once due to that.
I could get my Notio out again and see if I can get repeatable differences in the Troika vs Titan vs Enve 5.6

Great set up! What do the Gp5000TT measure on the Titan? The Titan is designed specifically for a 23c tire (especially the Corsa Speed). That measured just under 25mm on my TITAN. Don’t think it’s that big of a difference, just wanted to point that out. You choice of equipment is clearly scraping the maximum of what is possible.
I didn’t like the Titan so much for tires popping off the bead when losing pressure, even when the air wasn’t completely gone.
My current set up is definitely a little slower, but with the high winds we get, it’s easier for me to handle.
Good luck on the state champs, your trainings suggest good form

The GP5000 TT are 27mm on the Titan, guess there’s some room for improvement.
For some reason I really disliked how the Corsa cornered (the road race version, not the TT) when I had them on my Tarmac. Not entirely sure why, maybe from the different sound they made when you leaned into the corner, but I never trusted them.

Thanks! Let’s see where I stand this year compared to others. My fitness and equipment has clearly improved compared to the last 2 years.

I can see the ā€œtires popping of the rimā€ after I got, for whatever reason, a puncture now on my freshly installed Titan.
I rode the wheel on Saturday, all fine, and when I switched wheels Sunday evening (because of weather forecast saying it will be quite windy) I found a hole in the latex tube and the tire popped off one side. The hole was on the inside, towards the rim, no clear reason on why it punctured. I can only guess that it might have been from overheating on that spot as it was the one spot where directly sunlight got through the window onto the tire.

Hello guys, I’ve been a little absent from the forum, but for a good reason I believe haha.

I became national itt champion in Brazil in the pro category, a big dream, I expected to reach third place, but it was a great day on the bike, despite the rainy conditions and also the bad road.

in the photo is the final configuration that I racing, a while ago I sent another photo when some components were still missing.

HOOW , Josh is a big engine !

Wow, congrats!!

That is awesome…congrats!!

Awesome result. My best TT came in rainy conditions I think the air pressure can be best then; everyone else does fast times too though, so you must have a super engine :muscle:
