18 weeks before a Road Race

Need your advise, I just signed up for a road race this May. but looks like the time to train is a bit short if I follow the road race plan of TR. Should I go DIY?
or still follow the road race plan?

In my head im thinking of doing this
5 weeks - z2 (6days ride, 1 day rest)
4weeks - SS/Tempo (3days SS/tempo/3days Z2)
4weeks - v02 (3days vo2/3days z2)
4weeks - threshold,race simulation rides
1 week taper.

Im currently at 78kg @ 255ftp after 6weeks of no training as per my latest ramp.

Use Plan Builder and TR will adjust your plan accordingly to your event date.

Just follow and don’t overthink it. It’s plenty of time to get race fit. Add practice races and fine tune your race skills. Good luck!

LV+ additional long Z2 rides or just do MV plan?

Give a try to the Plan Builder with different volumes. You’ll notice that the more you increase the volume the more you’ll have Z2 in addition of SS/Threshold for the base phases. For the build phase, you’ll start to get a VO2 workout per week, then 2 per week the closer your event will be.

I’m in the same situation than you. I gonna do my first race ever in April and started a high volume plan a month ago using the Plan Builder and it gave a solid plan looking close to what you described.
