I have always found the text prompts/commentary less than useful … (I only see it on zwift, but i assume it appears if you use TR app too?). They don’t stay on screen for long, they don’t work if you’re watching tv/movie whilst training, they don’t always make sense to a novice … i tend to ignore them… yes i’m sure that means i’m going to miss my training goals … I will paste some examples from today’s workout.
You can turn them off if you want
They made sense to ME when i was a novice. Try not to paint in such broad strokes. You can turn off the text prompts by the way.
Good to know, thanks.
Hence I said “they don’t always” rather than “they never". I didn’t use any broad strokes.
I always wanted them to stay longer. They could perhaps pop up, then after the usual time shrink down and stay on the screen for a while longer.
I have a question about the instructional text. In the TR app on Android (Google Pixel 8 Pro), I have the “Instructional Text Sounds” option enabled to alert me to look when there are instructions. However, there is no sound when the text appears, but the “Interval Sounds” work. Does this work for you?
Same. And also would be nice if there was no text for a good few seconds after a hard interval starts, as I am chewing my stem at that time.
Do you know I think that is the crux of it … if i am not looking the screen (i often like to watch TV/movie whilst training) you miss the message, or the preceding message that gives context. This is not a TR specific thing - many zwift workouts have the same.
I also found that the text prompts sometimes assume a certain level of knowledge that i don’t have … e.g. I was told to “feel it in your quads”… i don’t actually know where my quads are!!!
Something like the star wars credits scrolling up the screen perhaps, with an optional audible prompt when a new line appears, or even a voice to read them out (I would like someone sensual who can seduce me into zone 6 and 7)
I’m almost always watching some vid on my laptop during workouts but I use the TR Mini-player which overlays the workout info over the vid. For me, the workout is the primary focus with the vid only providing something to help with the tedium. For that reason, I don’t generally watch movies/shows that require attention but rather cycling/mtb POVs.
