Where's My Ramp Test?

After many months, I’ll be resuming a TrainerRoad training regimen. I’m delighted to see that the folks at TrainerRoad are augmenting their plans to accommodate those of us getting a little long in the tooth. After selecting the Masters General Base plan, I noticed that it doesn’t include an FTP test. Quite frankly, I don’t know my current FTP. I guess I could take a wild guess and set it manually, but how will it be adjusted as I progress through the plan?

If you open your training plan on the calendar, you have an option to select Ramp Tests rather than AI FTP Detection.

This would swap you totally to Ramps for the entirety of your plan unless you change it later (which shod work too).

If you want AI FTP Detection for the future, the simple step is to just perform a Ramp Test from thw workout library and skip the first workout, if that’s your preference.

Thanks, Chad! It’s good to know I won’t have to endure those grueling FTP tests anymore.

@babyboomer if you’ve been riding your bike using a power meter AI should be above to make an informed view on your current FTP. during the better weather in the UK I ride outside.

So when I returned to TrainerRoad this September AI suggested an FTP which was spot on. This was evidenced by the workouts being hard but doable. AI also gave me a 4.9% increase on my return.

Worse case AI sets you current FTP too low/high which makes your response post workout to the effort you expend crucial to enable AI to deliver the correct level of workout to illicit the adaptations your seeking.

Welcome back👍
