What workout did you do today? (2020, part 2)

Continued with Z2 progression on the weekend, before starting base plan in 3 weeks. This was a long time to stare at a garage door!

Antelope +5 except I did it outside!

First outside workout with the Wahoo (Elemnt Bolt). I don’t have a power meter so I was going “by feel”, or more realistically, “by obsessively watching my heart rate on the Wahoo”. 14/10 experience after I realized I was on the wrong Wahoo page about half-way through. I think if I could take all my sweet spot/threshold workouts outside I would.

I believe they are fixing that. Sorry.

no worries  beta testing hopefully helps!

I only had 45 mins but I got a bit bored with this one, randomly picked but too easy so decided to do my own thing :joy:

Half a bottle and half a banana isn’t enough fuel for Tallac +4 Outside. I hate fueling in winter. I did the first interval OK but when the 2nd started on a slight down hill it gradually went downhill hill from there too. It probably wasn’t helped that I was a bit fatigued after several days in a row of multiple sessions, when I should have rested but I was testing to find out why I was getting power drop outs/spikes :joy:

First one after four days at work and I certainly felt it. Had a slightly worrisome moment in the final interval when my HRM started having issues. However, the old ticker is still going. Onwards.

Wasn’t looking forward to this. Last set brutal.
Williamson +2.

Decided not to deal with the 25-30mph wind gusts outside and dug into the TR catalog.

z - 8DC Stage 6 2014 - Nice mix of SS, threshold, and VO2max work. Blew up towards the end but somehow managed to finish off decently (maybe watching Stage 16 of the Vuelta helped out).

Red Lake +8

Can’t believe I got through that! Seeing a 6 min target of 400w is a bit daunting!!
Cadence was low in the intervals but it was all I could do to make it through…
First week of SusPB is a bit messed up due to PC problems, I doubt I’ll be doing Monday’s VO2 workout until Tues, which will then mean I have 4 consecutive workouts…not a great start to Build…

Been away for a week and so I have been doing walking instead of cycling. Decided to do an hour of Endurance/Zone2 work to prepare me for getting back onto Sweet Spot Base training with TrainerRoad. Did well.

4x5 minute VO2 max. Probably bit off more than I could chew, but still did it :fire:

Managed 125% on the first interval then quickly tanked to 117% and the final two kept it at 114%. Keeping cadence above 110-115 the entire time was challenging. I averaged 108-110 for the intervals.

In hindsight, my first vo2 max workout should have probably been 3 or 4 minute intervals :joy:

Mills & Boon done! Darwin on the cards for tomorrow.

I’m still not feeling 100%. Not that 2 minute intervals ever feel good.

Done with week 1 of SSB1 HV, I’d call it highly successful. Skipped the ramp test and just did antelope Tuesday at 300w, Geiger On Wednesday and that was a bit easy so I adjusted to 305w and did antelope Thursday without issue, Friday Pettit was ridiculously easy, Saturday was Hunter which was tougher than it should have been but today’s Wright peak -2 again was super easy.

Ramp Test to start SSB mid volume II . 2 Watt bump , fine with that wasn’t expecting anything so this is a bonus

Recovery, mixed with leg speed drills.

A totally new one on me and I really enjoyed it.

Tunnabora. Didn’t look very exciting in advance but the cadence ladders made it go by quick. I increased the cadence range on each Interval, culminating with an average cadence of 110 on the last one. Surely lost my HR but too be expected for me at those speeds.

Another tester this morning. Managed but was heavily fatigued. Onwards.
