What workout did you do today? (2020, part 2)

I did TR supports suggestion of using the Suito on Bluetooth and did Goddard-5. It made no difference, power was still dropping out or spiking.
I changed my ANT + stick and switched off my new fan and it was still happening :-1:

I’ll do an RGT session to rule out TR and if I still have a problem run on this tiny phone screen which will isolate the problem. If it still remains the problem is my power meter :-1: This the edited file capping the spikes at 450w

Haven’t posted in a while because it’s fall and have not been following a plan. Other than to lift weights and ride my bike.

Today is somewhat special as it is Day # 365 in a row without missing a workout.

Celebrated with a nice 100 minute trail ride:

This proved a little too intense after a week on the couch recovering from a bad case of shingles. I ended up spinning for 10-15 afterwards and was still shaking a bit. Considering my week, I felt pretty good and think I should be fine to hit it again next week.

At least I now know why my HR wouldn’t go above 160 in the ramp tests a few weeks back. I was having loads of aches and pains on the left shoulder and neck long before a rash appeared.
On the plus side I’ve leaned up a little more.

Breaker decided to flip in the third interval (luckily everything but the trainer is on battery backup) then the PC decided to freeze 3 minutes from the end of the 4th interval, annoying but at least it was not workout ruining. Trainer kept power locked as well so I was able to finish out the last 3 minutes.

Felt really strong during this one, legs had a little burn but nothing bad at all and breathing + hr was lower than usual, seems like the legs are coming back after a bit of time off the structured training wagon.

That is so frustrating. I’m sorry. :frowning:

Ramp test today. Wasn’t sure if to do it as my thighs are feeling a long run I did on Thursday but felt good through it. FTP increase from 210 to 233. On my way back to my PB FTP of 285

This was a bit harder than it should’ve been - I think it could be the weights catching up with me. It’s kinda hard to de-couple the two, but I think the RPE was more from muscular rather than aerobic-related discomfort. I may cut back to 1 strength session p/w.

Taxing workout! Long time on a turbo, had to get off

during the last rest interval for some undercarriage relief and stretch out the calfs!

Ok I’m blaming this on Amber because it was supposed to be the -3 variant but I was too curious and enthusiastic to just do the freaking plan  Threw in a couple backspins during the rests when I was about ready to bail completely.

Forgetting to turn back to ERG mode on some parts, also did a quick lap of the volcano to break the boredom of Sweetspot and top leader board with the TR Team Tag!
Tried my best to do the rest intervals, overall it’s a success for me.

Finally got my PC working again after 2 days of frustration! Faulty SATA cablešŸ™„

I’ve been tweaking my FTP manually since my last ramp test, but this is the first effort since an official 7.5% increase.

Managed to finish without too much difficulty, although my HR is definitely higher than recent O/U’s…

Just nailed Junction (racewinners + microbursts) after absolutely failing halfway through Mitchell (vo2 max repeats) a couple days ago and making the switch from water to a ā€˜full nutrition’ drink. Given the absolute night and day difference between Thursday and today, I’m reasonably confident I failed Mitchell due to underfueling rather than fatigue. Would it be a bad idea to add a few sets of vo2 max repeats to tomorrow’s sweet spot ride? (Tallac +3)?

EDIT: (if it makes any difference, after tomorrow I’ve got a full rest week scheduled)

Goddard-5 again tonight to test out a theory that had hit me earlier on today’s out door ride.

Hopefully no power meter is needed. I filed down the left (crank side) cleat and there was no spikes or drop outs tonight. In my bike fit the cleats had been moved back so I’d get a balanced/ efficient use of the float. It’s about 5mm clear of the power pod most of my stroke but at one point it was brushing it marginally. Now it isn’t :grinning:

My 25 year old self did not see my 39 year old self doing 3:15 trainer rides on a Saturday night.

Nicest November day you could ask for but I was just too busy to ride outside today so I squeezed in Allegheny @ 105% this evening. I treated it as a fixed gear ride and made the power alterations with cadence. I was quite pleased with the 3% decoupling as it definitely felt more than that the last 30-40 minutes.

Antelope. Didn’t pay attention to the Chad instructions about going into aero position, which for me is riding in the drops. Not too bad a workout, but overall fatigue pretty high. The weight workout Thurs really takes it out of me.

Kaweah. Could be much more painful close to FTP in the same week of a ramp test, managed well.

Back on the SS train, love it.

Noticed an error with it saving the ride in beta today, anyone else seen this?
