So, the plan builder kept on giving me a hard time, so many days in a row with high level efforts. Now this one, absolutely monstered me holding over 400w so many times, which is an improvement for me, but now i feel like i need a wheelchair!
I have Taylor -2 for tomorrow, I’ll be channeling your attitude, not sure I’ll feel the same way. It’s been a few months since I’ve done any short VO2 max intervals.
It’s the same for me, think the last proper VO2 stuff was at the end of last season. But then again I always found them easier, it’s the long sustained and under over efforts that absolutely annihilate me. Can’t wait for Carpathian Peak or Mary Austin, it’s going to be a massacre… ![]()
My thoughts exactly.
Baxter-1
Just a little acceleration in the middle to get away from an annoying Zwifter on the fugo flats. The type that keeps accelerating when you catch their back wheel and you start passing them…slows down again and situation repeats and repeats… Someone I guess that doesn’t like to be passed… Then why would you Zwift?
Regardless of above, enjoyed and kept mostly to the plan.
I’ll take Taylor any day of the week. Bashful +1, +2, etc - not so much.
Haven’t tried them yet but they do look mean as hell from the looks of it ![]()
I’ve got Dade +1 (3x3x2.5min @ 120%) and Kaiser +2 (3x3x3min @ 118%) coming up in the next weeks - both of which I’ve failed after 5 intervals out of 9 last time I did them. I’m really excited.
Not.

I like these decending intervals. I’d close my eyes and feel the good vibes and all of a sudden the interval was over. Starting at about 440w and ending at 400w, very enjoyable.
That’s one reason I want an erg trainer so bad. I generally quite enjoy using my Kurt Kinetic with TR, but the fact I still have to concentrate on the power is a blessing and curse. I suppose I like how it’s a conscious decision much like riding on the road would be, but when I’m on the rivet and just want to grind it out, I still have to put mental cycles into watching the output. Oh well.
its funny because I was just starting to enjoy doing outdoor intervals at max repeatable effort, and that is the flip side of erg mode.
I did this one last night as a gentler alternative to what was in my plan - Dade +4. The descents really help and I enjoyed it too while still feeling like I got a lot out of it.
But those three middle intervals were a bit of a surprise - they keep the high level for a whole minute instead of 45 seconds. Did you know that was coming, or get a mid-workout surprise like I did? It’s not really obvious if you just look at the workout picture beforehand without reading the detail!
I enjoy the eyes closed method and focusing on my breathing and how my legs feel. It’s like meditation.
