What workout did you do today? (2020, part 1)

Was going to mountain bike today but didn’t get the bike suspension rebuild finished yesterday. Only to find out the frame was cracked anyway. Poop happens and far better found in the workstand than landing a jump or drop off on trail.

After mucking around with that was kinda demotivated to workout so just hopped on the trainer for an hour and a half. Used Gibbs as a template then pretty much ignored it and rode LT1 :->

Week #2 of SSB MV 1.5 coming up this week. Happy and motivated to be following a plan again.

What is that, like 3.5 hours on the trainer? Respect.

Big distractions continued the last two weeks but the extra time off was beneficial for me I felt fresher than I have in over a month. After two days of TR work I pulled my son around for 10 miles on the trail a bike. Feels good to be back at it. Here’s me picking up on plan builder SSB2:

Nice to get outside and ride again!

Just noticed the “Where did you ride outside today” thread after I posted this…I’ll post my outside rides there from now on.

Recovery week from Short Power Build… nice little group ride yesterday with a 20 min “race” in the middle… threw down an attack with 2K to go and got caught at the line but finished second.

Work trip this week, starting a two week step back to SSB2 work before starting Crit specialty. Taylor -3 isn’t much of a challenge, esp after short power build, so subbed in Brasted… 30/15s instead of 30/30s. Next week, I’ll do Rattlesnake in honor of @Captain_Doughnutman in place of Taylor -2…

Won’t be long before you HR plot is below the power plot! :muscle:

I don’t know if I posted these but this was my week, I skipped Wednesday Z2 for a date night with the wife

Tuesday: Bashful +6

Thursday: Avalanche Spire +1

Saturday: Junction -1

Sunday: Tallac +3

Next week is rest week before another ramp test. Not expecting much with the little gains I’ve had thus far this year

“Why not both?”
flavour them differently (‘the ride’ vs ‘the work’, and cross-link as/where ‘fitting’)

[I do this… or one or the other depending ‘pleasure’ or ‘training’… all my rides are outside - “if I shouldn’t”, I hope someone will kindly tell me why not both  ]

Good point :+1:

:rofl: This is absolutely a milestone I’m tracking and it cracks me up. First it was yay my red line touches the blue! and now it’s someday my red line might stay in the blue!

Weird little clan we’ve got here.

Oh, Carillion, i like the ringing of…
Oops, sorry, getting carried away

Nice ride. Thought I’d pay the excesses of the weekend, but it’s all going well.
New shoes seem to be helping with various pains around my legs. And booked a bike fit to sort these out in the long run

Ramp test that I’m not prepared to share or talk about. Very poor couple of nights sleep, resting heart rate up a bit this morning, but I’m not accepting a drop after nailing every workout of Sustained Power Build MV Part 1, including all the VO2 max workouts.

Have to say, unless this is the first signs of me being in the sick house, I’ll be back to questioning whether the ramp test works for me. Can I just use Lamarck as my testing protocol?

Bashful +2 - lopped off 4% right at the start, to bring the 125% intervals back to 120% and avoid failure like my last attempt. It worked. VO2Max intervals are not my cup of tea, but I got it done.

Kaweah…Might have felt a little too good.

Ramp test today after SSB1 LV. Gained 10 watts whilst losing 3kg. Pretty happy with that!

Felt good to get outside in the sun on Sunday. Manged to get 75 miles in 3hr30min. Tss was only 260, great way to finish the week.

Easy spin today

Quite a fun workout. Raised the intensity to 110%* after the second interval.

  • I lowered my FTP by ~5% a couple of weeks back, since the longer sweet spots and over/unders felt way too hard

After struggling on last week’s Bashful +1 I wasn’t looking forward to its bigger brother +2 - https://www.trainerroad.com/app/career/bobw/rides/74386531-bashful-2. I needn’t have worried, having 60 seconds recovery after each interval made things a lot easier.
