This season I’ve been able to get seated sprints (5-10 seconds) on the trainer up into 900-1000W range. Really helped having a simulated power curve on my direct-drive Kickr, and I would think Neo could simulate on as well. For reference, outside on an incline and standing I can get a couple hundred watts higher, and so I was pretty happy with inside results.

First fail of the year. Pulled plug on interval 6 with 4min to go. I knew yesterday on my easy ride my legs were not recovered from moving the 60bags of concrete and mixing and pouring it after my vo2 intervals in the 95 degree heat. Almost had it, ohh well. 102% felt like 110%
Hope to recover for Saturday and Sunday and then a rest week
Decided to do a ramp test this morning as nearly completed power build phase. Bumped up from 252 to 268. Didn’t expect that much but felt strong and was delighted with the result. Onwards.
Just wait for the first SS wo at your new FTP
.
Tomorrow!!! My suffering will be legendary! ![]()
Just remember…
your new 95% of FTP is the old FTP.
You will suffer. But it will be worth it!
Today’s workout was a little bit different. I picked up my new bike yesterday, so I decided to do my workout on it on the trainer to adjust my position between intervals (those are the power drops). I think I’m in a decent spot, but I’ll know for sure after a longer Z2 ride this weekend which I am so excited for!
In any case, nailing this workout blew me away. These are power targets that six months ago would have been unfathomable for this long. And if I could have done it, it would have only been one interval! This is one of those workouts that helps me justify the new bike. ![]()
Very happy to get through this comfortably. Last week and a half have been a disaster. Scraped through Spencer last week but climbed off the bike after the first interval on Tray Mountain 2 days later and skipped my Friday run. I also missed some strength training sessions. This week I ditched Kaiser midway through the first interval as my legs where still shot from the weekend. A combination of amazing weather and 8 weeks of no outdoor cycling has meant everytime I go outdoors I’m flying around like an overexcited puppy. My lack of zone discipline outside has taken its toll.
I’m still getting stronger on the bike though, setting PRs all over the place on Strava, but I’m missing key workouts. I’m inclined to repeat the last 3 weeks as they were planned to make sure I’m properly prepared to move onto build phase. I’m in no rush to move with no events taking place anyway - might as well enjoy myself. ![]()
I have a gen 1 Neo. I do the sprint efforts in ERG mode like the rest of the workout. IIRC, Gibbs is high rpm lower power spinups/sprints. No reason you can’t spin those up in ERG mode.
As for the 15% resistance, I believe that is the TR default setting.
Pettit
Two days off, fully enjoyed the rest. Had a little 6km hike yesterday around the Stiperstones in Shropshire, nothing strenuous.
Pettit spin today, some low cadence work in last quarter…

Same type of spin planned tomorrow ![]()
Did a ramp test on monday FTP went from 279 -300, spanish needle -3 today was horrific. Managed the first 3 sets but had to reduce the effort to 90 % for the final 3.
That’s beautiful.
3x10 sweet spot.
88 degrees and HR pretty close to an 65 degrees early morning SS ride two weeks ago.
some of my riding buddies were having dinner while I did my workout ![]()
Third day on TR. Having a really hard time with smoothing out my power. Is this something you just get better with over time or is my power meter wonky somehow?
For a moment, I thought you were taking a running jump…!

What power meter/source is that?
Your power won’t ever get “smooth” but that is rather “rough”. If you hold you cadence steady, that should smooth out a bit.
Assioma uno. I focus on cadence but still working on it.
I’m scared of heights ![]()

I can’t even go near the edge up there as it is so windy. It makes me feel a bit ill when my mates do! There is a photo somewhere of someone stood on one of the needles. No thanks.
This picture doesn’t quite give you the perspective of how high they are but you get an idea.
