What workout did you do today? (2018/2019)

Bailed out of Spencer this morning in the middle of the second interval. I didn’t eat much on sunday, had a few beers sunday night. Felt sluggish this morning but jumped on the bike anyway without breakfast (I think this was the final straw). Lesson learned!

Mills yesterday, and Pettit this morning. Both went ok, maybe I’ve finally beat the flu I had for almost two weeks.

Test day! Managed an FTP raise from 291 to 297, tipping me just over the 4w/kg mark. Woohoo!

Yup, this offseason I’ve been trying to work in a wider range of cadences.

A shortened 3-lap version of Diamond Valley today, took 2 minutes to do in the Workout Creator. Given my goals I thought it a better match than the all-outs of Basin-4.

Looks like Disaster Day came early to the Stousignant house! Sorry bro!!

Back on the wagon with Spencer. First two intervals as prescribed and a 5% drop for the rest of the workout.

This one seems a little odd. Like the cooldown and warmup could be balanced a little better and still get all the same work done in an hour.

really hard. I had to insert a thirty-second pause in the middle of the third 7x1. I gave everything I had to complete this workout. I’m satisfied.
I love the sustained power build.

Antelope +2 for me today (5x10 @ 94%), very solid HR stayed under 160, in fact, HR actually went down on each interval. Not ready to jump any conclusions yet lol

Sweet result buddy!

37mins hill running at lunch only 6km +104m but felt tougher than it should. Maybe still recovering.

2700m Swim in the evening also felt tough.
Main set 13x 100m @1:30-1:38 off 1:50. Little bit of cramp but not enough to stop me. Had a 30s break at halfway. Played about with a swinging recovery too, didn’t seem to have much effect.

That’s all right. Could have been wrost. No concussion, no broken teeth/nose…my kids (5 and 7) were close to the ladder too. Recovey is going well and casts will be removed on the 31st. This is awesome!

Being healthy and in good shape really helps to recover from these things.

Keep calm and TR!

#massiveFail - lessons learned:

  • too much fatigue from Sunday group ride
  • biz travel last week killed consistency and week 6 SSB-1 recovery week with only Monday and Sunday rides
  • move along to SSB-2 mid volume at same ftp
  • retest try next week

Mentally I totally 110% needed to ignore recovery week and go out and enjoy my fitness on Sunday:

Bad timing, what can I say :man_shrugging:t3: School of hard knocks. Predictable results after a 215 TSS / 0.95 IF / #anaerobicPlayground ride

Don’t worry, you’re in great company.

This guy – some crazy Aussie – broke his arm and spent the winter on the trainer…then won Paris-Roubaix.

I wonder what his “what workout did you do today?” workouts looked like? :scream:

Kosciuszko +4.

Av int pwr 97%…so Kosciuszko -3%.

I almost called it after the 6th interval, but then I remembered the super unofficial, non-sanctioned, semi-inappropriate, and definitely unauthorized match burning contest with @trpnhntr I just created to keep me motivated to finish the job! :face_with_raised_eyebrow::grin:

Ain’t no Threshold Warrior gonna beat a VO2max Master! :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes::man_facepalming:

Joe Devel +1 this morning.

I was looking forward to this and it didn’t disappoint. The VO2 set pushed me right to my limit and I had to have a word with myself before the final set.

Definitely felt like the post ride beer was earned.

I did Spencer yesterday.

Managed the first interval at 100%, then dropped the remaining 4 to 95%. They sucked, or maybe i just suck at Vo2 max work. 10/10 did not enjoy

Come at me! By the time I finish rolling road race I’ll be…well, never good, but acceptable at those things again

Did Carson last night. Didn’t finish till after midnight, so I’ll count that as “today.” I’ve been adding extra aerobic riding to the end of my rides lately. I was feeling plenty fresh for this one, after just taking one day off.

This morning I did Mokelumne fasted before work

Last night I did South Twin +6 - got through the first five intervals and then broke on the sixth. Rallied for the 7th one (after the slightly longer recovery period) and then had to dial things down for intervals 8 and 9. Disappointed to not finish successfully but really a hard workout for me at the end of a long day
