What workout did you do today? (2018/2019)

Easily the most disgusting workout for me on TR. Although I still maintained my 100% compliance rate. Darwin was my most difficult before now.

Thought I was in for a whole week of Whorl. Bamboozled! Cardigan was up. Made it through, wasn’t too bad all things considered, just wasn’t mentally prepared for it.

Already saw a lot of people finishing Spencer +2 today, I want to add mine. I had to backpedal once and get off the bike and turn on music for the last bit but completed it even though gym and short sleep happened.

Next workout is just some endurance ride, followed by Disaster on Saturday!

Great work and description! Here are the tips for week 5 of SSB-2:

I’ve only survived Spencer +2 by dialing down intensity to 92%. As a diesel I aspire to finish it at 100%. Goals.

It’s fair to say that “legit misery” ticked the box for me today. Do you get out the saddle when your struggling? If I was to stay seated I doubt I would finish some workouts. I’ve finally coughed up the money and am off to get my first bike fit this weekend. Although comfort is the main priority for me, I’m hoping I cam dial in on my pedal efficiency too.

Spencer +2 is some serious misery!  For all the vo2 efforts I stay seated, because thats how it usually plays out for me on the (flat) road when chasing rabbits :biking_man:

Darwin for me tonight. Last interval was tough as hell but got through it. Now just a Pettit tomorrow, and then a couple of days of rest before one of the Disaster variants on Saturday. We’ll see which one.

Been a couple days since I’ve posted, but I’ve been training!

Sunday - Tallac +3, and 15 minutes endurance pace at the end

Monday - Eclipse

Tuesday - Eclipse again!

Did Spencer +2 today. Felt strong the whole way through. Even upped intensity throughout. Last interval is done and I’m overjoyed and decide to get on top of my nutrition and suck down the last gel on my table next to me. Of course I didn’t notice it’s loaded with caffeine and now it’s 7:30pm. Damn…

Carillon today, tougher than I expected after 4 weeks of MV. TrainingPeaks had me at 11.5% Pw:Hr for this ride but my 10 minute interval average HRs were 157, 162, 166, 171. Contrast to Eclipse Sunday which was 3x20 and my HR for the blocks was 160, 166, 170, and for Eclipse, TP had me at 2.4% Pw:Hr.

Ramp test. +10%, but I guess my FTP might have been a little under-estimated before.

Ramp Ugh Test. Virtual power and went up 4W. Was sick over the weekend. I’ll take it!

Galena +3. Last week of SSBHV2. Felt pretty darn good. The last 20 felt easier than the first 20 and HR drift was almost nothing between the last 3 intervals. My butt is feeling it more than my legs 2 hours into these workouts… Hoping for a decent bump on next ramp test, but really happy with endurance regardless of FTP at this point.

Ericsson. Not too bad. HR was more in line with what I expect for this kind of work than what I was experiencing over the weekend at similar wattages. Inner right knee was a bit sore during some of the higher power portions. Will be monitoring that as I continue to the plan.

Was feeling pretty good today, in spite of yesterday’s session, but decided to do the sensible thing anyway and take it easy

Simple goals. Own my FTP. This is the key SSB workout for me. Pleased as Punch to have this in the bag.

To date, this has been my best block of off season training.

No shame, and posted as a reminder of the importance of sleep and lifestyle, not for pity:

Slept 3.5hrs last night before a very on 10hrs of work in which I ate ‘breakfast’ at 6pm. Absolutely pulled the rip cord like 1/3 into what should have been a pretty doable ride of Carillon tonight. HR was actually fine, but RPE was just brutal. Felt less sustainable than the over/unders from the weekend. Get your sleep, kids.

Pettit
Nice easy spin for the legs

Have to plan something quick and easy for tonight, looking at this weeks @mcneese.chad calendar on the Disaster thread, I might do Basin-5 or Truuli-2.

[e] Now that I’ve actually done this 180% sprint nonsense I have some concerns about Disaster -2 on Saturday…
