Ramp Test!!!
Ouch that hurt at the end.
Yes, the 5th-week workouts look intimidating but on the other hand, you come well prepared and accustomed to the pain
Spencer was not harder than any other VO2 workout (but to be honest all of them were the easiest ones for me due long recovery time between power surges). Threshold workouts with short recovery time are definitely the hardest but every one of them is definitely doable. What helped me the most during Spencer +2 was not looking at the numbers and wandering into my “nothing box”. So mind over body approach ![]()
10x3’ on @ 105-110% FTP R:3’ 50% FTP
Ramp test at the end of SSB MV2, not a big boost in FTP but hopefully that will come in build phase.
Just finished San Joaquin +3, week 7 of my build plan. I’m guessing the training stress is really catching up, I’m having to pause during rest periods to add an extra minute of easy spinning. Looking forward to the rest week.
After yesterdays workout @mancunian just posted, I feel bad to post mine and say it was my longest indoor-ride thus far: Virginia in TBLV1

After a weekend of turning myself inside out, I took yesterday off and if I’m honest, didn’t feel too sharp this morning.
Decided to just spin the legs so Taku got a call-up. That went well so I thought ‘let’s try something just a touch more taxing’.
Truuli was next and that went far better than expected. HR was totally in zone and the legs came to life. Onwards ![]()
Never feel bad, @jn92 you’re doing more than a lot of other folks ![]()
Also, training indoors you can get an awful lot of work done in a 1 or 2 hour session, so sometimes it’s not even necessary to go beyond that.
Of course it’s nice to be able to ![]()
Looking at that, I don’t doubt you could!! ![]()
Really I’m cheating, because it’s Week 2 of SSB2 and I haven’t properly ramp tested yet, so I’m using the FTP from the beginning of SSB1. I’ll do a ramp Thursday, so assuming I get some FTP movement, Bluebell will slap me back down next week ![]()
I was so pleased to finish this. Upped the workload 2% for the last two intervals and just squeaked home.
Looking forward to a recovery week and ramp test two weeks today
Second ramp test. Anticipated jump (216 to 230) after my first several weeks of structured training. I kinda phoned it in on the final bump but still happy with the outcome. Will keep pushing.
The downside of all this is I just learned about Disaster for this Saturday.
Table Rock -2. Taking an easy week. Did all the drills - climbing for the first 15 min interval, aero for the second.
Tunnabora - no cadence work for me. I messed with the single leg drills for about one minute. Did this one back on the Kinetic with a goal of just staying smooth. Did ok…
