That’s in Ireland isn’t it?
Back in the day, late 90s went on a Rugby Union Tour to Cork (near by, South-West?)
Is there a story behind the lower/zero power in the last quarter?

Edit, just spotted Rosslare on your map. I think we went from Fishguard to Rosslare, hard to remember as it was an overnight crossing and it was a Rugby Tour, many, many beers. Crossing was delayed due to a rough sea, and I couldn’t workout if the boat was moving more than my head spinning. Fun memories but glad those drinking days are behind me

Well spotted. Thats the cost of dealing with traffic in the city and basically calling an end to the ā€œhardā€ work (my brother was up front for most of the ride doing a bit more work than I was).

Could have gone from Fishguard or Pembroke depending on who you were sailing with. That night boat is handy when using the UK as a land bridge… it saves a night in a hotel at some point though it’s a super late crossing!

You feel these 10 min intervals just over TH a little more than SS intervals

there’s no feeling like putting out the same power and seeing your HR is steadily 10bpm lower after a few months of training

Congrats on the workout, Lamarck should be challenging! My recommendation, do the recovery week and ramp test afterwards. Even if you end up at the same FTP at least you have a consistent test that may give you any insights down the road.

SSB 1, starting week 2. This was a really challenging workout, had one 30sec pause

Can you share your progression? I’ve been doing something similar before jumping back into SSB1. I can get through Charybdis, but Spencer +2 (6 x 3 min at 120%) just kills me.

Sure. I (strongly) inspired myself from a post by Coach Chad on the topic. The list was Stanislaus -4, Freel +1, Bashful, Baird +2, Mills, Hurd -2, Dade +1, and Spencer. Initially I did 3 per week, dropping the easiest one and adding the next one each week (so A-B-C week 1, B-C-D week 2, and so on), but that way a bit over the top, so I switched to 2 per weeks, adding a new one each week (A-B, B-C, etc). I started with intervals I knew I had no problems with, and progressively getting to the point where I knew things were falling apart for me (2 minutes intervals). I’m now at 2:30 (where I had failed repeatedly before), and will push to 3:00 at the end of this week.

I played a bit with the workout selection to avoid increasing both the interval duration and the overall time above FTP at the same time.

Washington+2 this morning. 7 minutes at 105% efforts. Legs gave way early in the last interval, so I switched to resistance mode, had a minute rest, then managed to get back up to power for the last 3min 30sec. This was actually the first time I’d ever set the trainer to resistance mode, and found it easier to hit a higher cadence than I could in erg. Will have to try my next VO2 max workout in resistance instead of erg mode too.

Avalanche Spire +1. Felt good, one BT dropout during the 4th interval was annoying but recovered quickly and finished the set. Added 15 mins of 60ish% at the end

Baird-1

My main concern right now is to bring my TT bike FTP closer to my season best achieved in road bike. Getting there, right now I dropped 20 watts and got through the vo2max repeats with ease. And by ease I mean barely bearable suffering during the last set :joy:

Some impressive numbers there :facepunch:t2:

I agree, the relative low max heart rate to my power output is a goal I would like to archive.

Compare this to my ratio…my goal is far away but my discipline is there.
