After nixing the usual weekend ride with my wife because of 2 000 things, went out for the morning 1-h solo outing today - it’s getting pretty dark already, those 5h30 rides are about to be over. Managed to squeeze it between darkness and the incoming rain. It’s a nice loop with mostly minimal traffic, including that stretch of broken pavement country road on the way back - with a tailwind, I was flying over it, quite sure the rattles would make me lose a few screws or dental filings. It’s like my own Paris-Roubaix.
Not workout I did today…but what workout I did yesterday (er…day before yesterday).
Junction -1. Did it a day early, so I would have time for team CX practice on the lakefront, which meant doing it junction -1 the day after bashfull +2. Nailed it, though it was brutal.
Just finished up short power build 1. I’m utterly cooked. So looking forward to rest week starting today.
After a week in the Colorado mountains with the wife (wife’s bike is on the left, mine’s on the right)…
I’m back to a normal routine leading up to a 6 hour mountain bike race this Saturday. This past weekend I did Avalanche Spire and Round Bald. The plan for this week is to taper leading up to the race.
Follow up on my VO2 block:
I did a shortened version Mist+1. The plan was to do a 4x4min of the sloping tops in Mist+1 and then call it a day. The 3.rd top my legs almost fell off, and I had to cut short. Did some extra recovery and then did the 5.th with a goal of holding 3 minutes. I Think the 2 minutes between tops are a bit short, and I will make myself a modified version of this with only 4 tops and added 1 minute in the recovery.
I cannot understand have I should be able to do the complete Mist+1…
Stuffed this at the beginning of my mid-Century-plan recovery week to try to make up for terrible compliance three weeks ago. Heeeeaaaaavy legs by the end. Not really burning, just full of lead. Can I like adapt myself a bigger set of lungs, is that a thing?
[Zwift Academy 2019 Workout #5: 1min Power Duration]
Continuation of my group suffering, taking a break from solo TR suffering
(Zwift Academy 2019 Workout #5: 1min Power Duration | Strava)
x51 All time power PRs from 32secs to 1:22secs
Don;t think i set my best 1 min power, dropped off in last 10-15 seconds in first effort, went too hard at start, but now I have a target in mind for any future efforts..
Ramp test, PR, +7 watts. Followed that up with Truuli-1 to make a really solid day.
I like Lazy Mountain because I can do it in my pajamas.
Fang Mountain +1. Kept resisting the workout texts suggestion to bump up intensity. So fecking pleased I did by the time the last interval came around…
Failed Kaiser. Again. I’ve got to do something like a VO2Max build-up mini-camp or something. Slowly build up from 60s intervals up to those 3 min jobs. Maybe do a mixer - 3mins, 1 min, 3mins, etc.
Chad (actual Chad, not Other Chad) has a mini-plan for this!
(How’s your climate/airflow situation?)
Was reading that reference thread before I posted, thanks. That’s what I’m probably going to do - that or start a “I suck - I mean I really suck - me too” thread.
No, I don’t have a climate excuse. The basement is at a pretty constant temperature winter/summer - certainly drier in the winter with the heating, but nothing worth noting. And I have the same fan in my face year-long.
