Definitely starting to believe sub 1:20 is possible…
Ascutney will be fun, steady on the climbs, hard on the flats is my advice, and fast shifts! Seeing your numbers up Washington during the practice you can definitely crack 34 min.

Rundle for me this morning.
Nothing quite like a 40/20 session. Not going to lie, I’ve tweaked this version, dropping the VO2% by 3% to 112%. That was spot on as I was losing form in the final two efforts.
This is the start of my proper training in the run up to my A race. A town centre crit with 13 corners. Better learn how to hit the accelerator time after time after time!
It has been too hot in my pain cave to sit on the trainer (mid-30s C outside with no insulation to speak of, no cooling options in the room besides a table fan to suck in more hot air), which is super frustrating. Heat’s supposed to snap with thunderstorms tonight, so maybe I can get Washington +2 in. Or literally anything.
Had a fun trip on Saturday though!
Lucky enough to land a Neo 2 dirt cheap, couldn’t resist making the purchase. This FTP sounds far more in line with what I expected. Looking forward to some ERG workouts now without death-staring the power reading
Failed ramp test. Did Clyde as a warmup, then into the test. At the point where power rises above FTP, I knew this wasn’t going to be the day - didn’t have that short but intense suffering in me. Oh well - on to HIT Maintenance now.
Erg really does relieve the mental stress that comes with the dumb trainer. I don’t know that I would make it through some of the intervals I’ve made it through lately without being able to just go someplace dark and not come out till its over.
Williamson today on my new and improved FTP. It was so frustrating! I just couldn’t hold any reasonable time under high stress. It was damn FUGLY. Really wanted to quit, back pedalled a few times but got through it on 98%.
First time I’ve had to reduce intensity, just found it so hard to maintain. I kept telling myself ‘it’s good for you’ and I kept answering back saying ‘er nope it hurts
’

holy crap, that’s a brutal first workout with the new ftp. Congrats on powering through it!
But look at how you crushed the cooldown!!
Had Carillon scheduled, but I was feeling fresh so I bumped it up to the +2 version. Enjoyed it a lot, felt like the perfect amount of work after a 66 mile solo ride yesterday
Ramp test, down 18 watts. That’s not entirely unexpected, my 6 week average TSS has tanked since it peaked at the start of June.
I took last week mostly off to let myself heal from a 8 hour mtb race I did. Had a handful of minor injuries, plus overall fatigue from the event. Found that freshness to return to training came back a lot faster than the physical healing process did. Felt good to get back on the bike today, I’m excited for my next training block.
Washington +2. Found it tough! Felt like giving up by the 3rd interval, then seemed to just about keep hanging on - the 6 min rests helped!
TR app losing connection to my trainer just after the warm-up and need the phone resetting didn’t help ![]()
Nope, still too hot.
I’ve got a 3-minute hill near my house, maybe I’ll just go ride up and down that a bunch.
Totally smashed that cooldown ![]()

Antelope -4 was up yesterday. Felt pretty tough, had a big weekend and still suffering a little.
