What workout did you do today? (2018/2019)

I will join you in just a few hours!

Monitor +1 7x6min rollling sweet spot w/ 1 min breaks. Just a solid hour of discomfort.

Compared to December:
+23W NP
+80 kJ
+1 bpm avg
+4 bpm max HR

Phoenix +2 today and 20min tempo brick after. 75min of 90-95% Managed it all in aero bars! Big confidence booster here.

Nice one! I had regular Phoenix today and that was bad enough! And then the wind nearly blew me off my feet during the brick.

3x1 mile run with my dog followed by a 20ish minute break, and then Boarstone. I was planning on the ride, the run was rather spontaneous. I was going to do another 2x1 mile run, like I did last week, and then felt great after the 2nd mile, so thought we’d keep going. I was thinking I’d take a bit of a break before getting on the bike, but then felt plenty motivated when I got inside.

Took a little bit to get my things together before I started riding, but felt pretty good for the first hour. Started to feel like I was running out of fuel right at about 90 minutes. I had grabbed a bunch of bananas for my mid ride fuel. I don’t think it was sufficient. Definitely would’ve benefited from better fueling.

This workout is definitely harder than it looks. When you have to shout at your muscles to perform the last interval it’s working as intended.

Tomorrow is a race day (I guess a b or c…I dont have any a races this year) so today was a coffee spin… A coffee spin involving Strava PRs on a route we travel extremely regularly… May the wind direction forever be in your favour.

Spencer +2 … hurt

eclipse +3 (4x20 sweet spot averaging 280). although my basement temp is still lower 60s, I think the higher spring humidity is making things more uncomfortable. But otherwise got through it just fine, HR stayed below 160 which is always a good sign for me.

Mary Austin -1, except my (Elite Qubo Digital Smart B+) trainer choked after the first set and stopped giving me power targets to hit (in ERG mode), and when I tried to fix it, like the tech industry professional that I am, I managed to overwrite my progress through the workout. :face_with_symbols_over_mouth::face_with_symbols_over_mouth::face_with_symbols_over_mouth::face_with_symbols_over_mouth: So I finished all three sets, but my workout log only shows two.

They were really freaking hard. That’s a really freaking hard workout. I shudder to imagine OG Mary Austin. Coach Chad was like ok this time come out of the saddle at the beginning of each step and I swore at him and did not come out of the saddle.

Carpathian Peak +2 for me today.

First time I’ve actually managed to complete this workout. First interval felt horrible, second wasn’t much better. Third felt surprisingly manageable - must be that psychology of it being the last one

Pleased to see the all time PB’s - means the plan is working

Love Carillon. Not the most challenging IMO but it always feels really nice!

Haven’t we all?

Spanish Needle +2 today. I think I can safely say that I’ve never done anything quite like that in any sport. Kind of weird to do on a dumb trainer. Reminded me of running 3000s on the track, but every 60 meters you get down and start from the blocks. Loved it! After Thimble +5 on Thursday I think I really love these short work, short rest, high rep workouts.

But again, I think I had a little more in the tank; maybe felt like I had another set in my legs, or could’ve tried for higher target power each interval. Is the 150% target very specific or just a floor for anaerobic power? I didn’t want to bump up the intensity, being my first time through the workout but maybe I should next time.

And a zoom on the last set.

was trying to do rubicon+1 but the trainer seems broken it doesn’t change the power anymore :frowning:

Are you using a smart trainer or dumb trainer + PM/virtual power? You might want to try a support chat to help troubleshoot. The agents are always very helpful.

Race day today - made it into the break but was pretty empty at the end (335 NP for 2:26 is too much for my current fitness I guess)

The weather finally got reasonable here for me to get outside. 80km of fixed gear goodness

First proper session completed, and i survived. Bit hard after a 12hr day shift but actually enjoyed it

Nice! This winter I became very familier with doing sweet spot after a long days on my feet. Seems like the first interval is always a very rude awakening for the legs.
