Todays’ workout was Kaweha and I almost quit on that last 5 minute of 10 minute FTP plateau… until Two High from Moon Taxi kicked in and gave an adrenaline kick to the end.
What was your song that made the difference and got you through that black hole of a workout?
For intervals that long: Dave Matthews Band, Live in Central Park, All Along the Watchtower. I start the song such that the music ends right when the interval is over.
I am re-working my FTP Ramp Test playlist, but my top four for the last few steps are the Beatles “Hey Bulldog”, ELO’s “Mr. Blue Sky” and U2’s “Desire” and The Who’s “My Wife”. Sorry if that dates me. Give them a shot. Perfect for cadence and motivation. Throw in The Door’s “Peace Frog” for another option.
Led Zeppelin’s Stairway to Heaven and the Eagle’s Hotel California. The last few minutes of each song are pretty exhilarating when it comes to finishing a workout, at least for me.
Bad Company - Five Finger Death Punch
Turn the Page - Metallica or Bob Seger
Whiskey in the Jar - Metallica or Thin Lizzy
Warrior’s Code - Drop Kick Murphys
Yeah, I have a library of angry that doesn’t get played much. Actually, I rarely listen to anything except on the trainer, so most of my quarter of the family music library is angry.
Hate me - Children of Bodom or Soulless by Running Wild …in fact virtually anything by COB does the trick…how little my music taste has changed over the years …I’m 52!
Avicii - Silhouettes. It’s got plenty of EDM/Pop energy and something about that line, “We have come a long way since that day, and we will never look back at that faded silhouette.” Looking back at what I was, what I am as I push through bigger watts…it’s powerful.
