What has your progress been? I’ll start with mine so far:
First FTP Test: 2.5 w/kg, October 2024
Current: 2.7 w/kg, October 2025
Goal: 3.0 w/kg, February 2026
Notes: First FTP test was 52 kg and untrained. Current weight is 58 kg, so while I would have liked to see a larger increase in my w/kg, the progress makes sense. The increased weight came from starting strength training, which I had never done before. The majority of my rides are on Zwift using TR training plans.

28 year old man. My data is a little weird because I started TR on a Stages spin bike, I believe with pretty inflated power data. Initial AI FTP was 280W at 82kg with that power meter in Dec 2024. Last AI FTP update with that Stages PM was 309W at 81kg on 3/13/2025. About a month later (riding a ton outside without power in the interim) I got a Wahoo Kickr and my AI FTP after a few rides on that was 287W at 81kg. Currently at 311W at 3.89W/kg on the Kickr
TrainerRoad has been awesome for me. I’ve mountain biked on and off since 2020 but didn’t have any kind of consistency until I started TrainerRoad. Would go really hard for a few months in the peak season and then do nothing in the winter. Consistency has probably been the biggest benefit.
So for simplicity, since April I’ve gone from 3.53W/kg to 3.89W/kg. Hoping to get to get to 4.2W/kg before gravel races start near me in the spring, but we’ll see!

Here are some points on my journey:
45 year old guy, bought an MTB in sep 2023 to lose weight and get in shape.
Sep 2023: w/kg: 2.01 FTP: 193 Weight: 212
Dec 2023: w/kg 2.87 FTP: 250 Weight: 192 (injured my back carrying my daughter around in full body cast), took training back up after 2 months.
Sep 2024: w/kg: 3.15 FTP: 270 Weight: 189
Sep 2025: w/kg: 4.02 FTP: 310 Weight: 170 (Broke collarbone on first ride celebrating breaking the 4/kg barrier), had surgery.
Now: w/kg: 4.03 FTP: 306 Weight: 167
My A-race this year was the Lutsen 99er when I was around 3.6w/kg. Was lucky and came home with a leadville coin, which will be my A-race in 2026 and trying to go for a sub-9 to crown the comeback to fitness. I want to lose another 7 lbs and raise FTP to 320-330 by August next year ~4.5 w/kg.

42 year old - volume between 5-10hours a week (3x indoor TR workouts a week 4-5hours)
Got back into structured cycling training at the end of April. I’d taken a bit of time off cycing to do a marathon.
End of April was 289w weight 81kg - 3.5w/kg
End of June was 306w weight 78.5kg - 3.9w/kg
Middle August was 311w weight 78kg - 4w/kg
Middle of October was 319w 77.5kg - 4.1w/kg
Currently (middle November) 323w weight 76.5kg - 4.2w/kg
I’d love to get to 4.5w/kg by the time I do etape du tour next year, however, I don’t really want to go much lower than 75kg (because I’m happy with the way I look and I like eating
) and my all time best FTP is 325w so I’m not expecting to get much higher unless I up my volume.
I’m really happy with whatever tweeks TR have made under the hood recently to adaptive training - my progress has been faster than I can remember and I’ve just been able to sit back and let the system pick my workouts and they have all felt spot on.
