I’m getting ready to start a 14 week training plan leading up to the Barn Burner in Flagstaff on September 14th and I’m seeing a little strangeness in some of the recovery / ramp test scheduling. Using plan builder, Mid Volume, Climbing Road Race as the specialty.
Really it’s week 10 as my question. Recovery week 9, Ramp Test and one week of training week 10, Recovery Week 11, Ramp Test and Specialty starts Week 12. Seems strange that the previous build cycle wasn’t just lengthened as opposed to that extra recovery / ramp test?
Week 1 – Base, starts off with Ramp Test (SSB MV2)
Week 5 – Endurance / Recovery
Week 6 – Build, starts off with Ramp Test (Sustained Power Build MV)
Week 9 – Endurance / Recovery
Week 10 – Ramp Test
Week 11 – Endurance / Recovery
Week 12 – Specialty, starts off with Ramp Test (Climbing Road Race MV)
I just want to clarify to make sure I can answer appropriately, I think you’re asking why the Week 9 Endurance/recovery is there instead of just more build?
Actually, got it a little wrong, had things shifted by a week and rest weeks are weeks 8 and 10, but same idea applies. @IvyAudrain - TR Username is “BCMulx” if you have the ability to look behind the scenes.

You were running into and edge case situation with Plan Builder. Our team took a look and modified our logic to give a better outcome so that this won’t happen again for other athletes who have a similar situation. In order to see the changes, you’ll need to reapply your plan. As long as you’re ok with it, our Support team would be happy to do that for you!
This wont resolve that duplicate Ramp Test issue, however. The good news is that you’ll be able to use AI FTP detection in both cases, at which point we’ll suggest a suitable replacement workout instead.
Let us know if that sounds okay and we’ll make some changes for you!
I’ve had all kinds of weirdness. Put in a full distance tri plan for my boss and it had her doing a 3 hour ride the day before the race, as well as a bunch of sprint workouts. I just went thru and modified it to look more normal
