VO2sday zwift race series

Heyo. My scheduled workout today was to be Schoen 6.4 VO2 Max Traditional. I moused over the w/o blocks last night and it looks like a warmup, 6x 2min 120%, 4 min recovery. Coincidentally I read about the zwift insider 5 race series and on a whim signed up for this morning’s block of 5 races. They played out like 3-4min at 120%, and 6min off. So not exactly, but close. And it motivated me to plan and execute a ride before noon (instead of 6pm or not at all).

We can’t associate multiple rides with one TR workout, so I planned ahead and double recorded all the rides on a garmin as one ride. But I wondered, does this even make a difference to the TR algorithm (For example: 5 little rides sent from zwift and a ‘missed’ workout, or removing the 5 rides and linking the garmin recorded to the workout). I was considering swapping the tuesday workout with a zwift race in the plan for the near future too.

I did a quick search on the forum but didn’t see this series mentioned. Anyone else doing these have takeaways or tips on integrating with TR plans?

edited to mention the garmin recording was all 5 rides as one

In the past I’ve done free ride hill repeats in Zwift rather than doing a scheduled workout.

I just do the ride, leave the workout uncompleted, and let TR decide what effect it thinks it’ll have on my fitness.

I mean, we’ll find out what effect it’s had on my fitness eventually, whatever TR thinks.

I think that’s the plan- leave the rides as is and ignore the workout so it goes incomplete.

Typical me, overthinking this.

Yeah, there’s no need to do any extra work in this scenario.

Just do the work, whatever it is you decide to do, sync it to TR, fill in the RPE survey, and we’ll analyze the data.

If you have activities that match your planned TR workout when you didn’t follow the structure of that workout, you’ll want to unassociate those.

Let me know if you have any other questions about this.

Oh, and welcome to the forum @mrpedal!

What a coincidence. I did the same last Tuesday for the same Vo2 workout. Mostly to keep myself motivated. I just recorded each race individually and it didn’t really seem to mess anything up besides having a lot of individual recorded rides. I’ll do the same for my next Vo2 session and record it on the Garmin and see what happens.
