For real. I just switched to a cycling-focused plan with some maintenance running, which comes to approximately the same TSS range as the tri plan, and it’s definitely hit me differently. (that being said, life’s changed pretty significantly so there’s probably a psychological element.)
That looks like Malibu/Thousand Oaks area…if so very jealous. Supposed to be down there right now.
Actually Plymouth UK but Cali would be sick
Probably. I’ve done some 24h MTB races in the past. With the correct preparation and in a week without further stress it’s doable for sure.
Don’t say that, it will make me want to do it…
I’m not sure if it is a good idea. I’ll tell you if I do it after I do it but doing this will only be after covid beeing controlled.
You could also look at it this way: a 1000 TSS week is a COVID test in it’s own right… No way you’d get through the first days of this while being ill
Good point but if you are ill such a test will brake your immune system too much I think and that may be dangerous, nevertheless I´m considering it.
What do you all consider best to put a TSS 1000, after finishing SSBI (2nd time on SSB after A races have been cancelled) or its best to do it before the last week on SSBI and therefore after this crazy week having that recovery 6th week of SSB before jumping in to the next planned phase?
Also if this is on is there anyone interested in doing it all or part of this in group ride mode? It would make it more fun for sure or at least more endurable…
Would have thought a recovery week both before and after would be a good idea.
Would be interested in trying a 1000 TSS week, have done them in triathlon but never just cycling. And the fatigue is quite different when it’s spread across 3 sports. Currently hitting 700+ weeks fairly consistently, so should be able to handle it without putting myself in a huge hole. A group thread to provide support and encouragement might help, I’m not really on board with the group workouts yet though!
Well things change. Its too boring following my current plan with no events on the horizon. Also after Covid is gone (maybe only in 2021) its a long time away and then I wont have all the amount of time needed to do this 7 days in a role on TR and some days having a 3 or 4 hour training.
New idea is to do this from the 20th to the 26th of April following this scheme:
- Monday 20th at 10h00 (am): Cartago - 3h00 of sweet spot - 174TSS;
- Tuesday 21st at 20h30 (8h30 pm): Collins - 1h15 of endurance - 58TSS;
- Wednesday 22nd at 10h00 (am): Rockhouse - 3h00 of anaerobic - 229TSS;
- Thursday 23rd at 20h30 (8h30 pm): Baxter-1 - 1h15 of endurance - 52TSS;
- Friday 24th at 10h00 (am): Cathedral - 2h40 of sweet spot - 173TSS;
- Saturday 25th at 10h00 (am): Whorl - 1h15 of endurance - 50TSS;
- Sunday 26th at 9h00 (am): Disaster - 4h15 of Vo2 max - 264TSS.
Time is UTC +1 and setted according to my work schedule.
If there’s someone interested in just some or all I may create a group ride for each one of them. I´’ll surely enjoy some company in the larger ones at least.
Aw damn! I’d be good for group Collins and Baxter, but I’m not sure my downstairs neighbors would be too stoked on me cranking out Disaster at 2am
I’d be down to attempt the week though!
Been learning to eat, work, read and watch lots of movies from my rollers putting longer and longer tempo and endurance rides in, or will do a 2hr sweet spot ride then go easy after. I was just about to start half distance specialty when lock down started, been open in the 900 tss range from the 600-700 range before, been feeling fine so will probably push it a little further for kicks as we ain’t got nothing else going on.
Managed to hit 1,000 TSS in just cycling this week - included an 8hr roller ride one day. Definitely feeling tired but was doable.
Those 368 were brutal!
So the week is sheduled as mentioned above and in the 1st post, if anyone wants to join any of the exercices please let me know previously so I can set it as group ride and share the code.
I know doing endurance and tempo for more than one to one and a half hour is boring. This 7 days on TR have some trainings with parts of anaerobic and Vo2. Even so it will have a lot of time on Z2 and Z3. Hope to endure it while devouring Netflix
Thanks.
Week canceled.
Just having too much fun riding on RGT without the stress of training for events once they are all canceled until july at least, so from the 24th until the 26th Íll join an RGT climbing event, racing Formentor, Stelvio and Ventoux on consecutive days: RGT Users Events Public Group | Facebook
maybe later I´ll get back to this.
