TrainNow prescribes widely different PLs?

Hey,
does this happen to anyone?
Depending on the workout durantion I set it recommends more or less meaningful workouts.
E.g., For 60min it gives:
SS 5.3, while my current SP PL is 5.9, or
TH 3.9, while my current PL is 4.0. So all “achievable”

If I ask for 90min it changes its mind and gives
SS 6.3 or TH 4.2, so “productive”.

I asked support but the answer was in the direction of “trust it, it’s good”. So rather useless.
Does that behavior make sense to anyone? Did TR lose it’s trust in their PL consistency?
Or is it a bug?

@Slowwithouttwitch at the end of a pretty hard day during which I hit a PR, I clicked on TrainNow after reading a post about it on this forum…just wanted to check it out. The suggested workout was Kidstones. That’s a VO2 7.4 workout…my VO2 PL is currently 3.7…that’s AFTER hitting PRs earlier in the day.

I gave TrainNow some time to think about it & when I came back it rec’ed recovery. So, sometimes you have to give it time to think.

As I understand it, TN is only retrospective and suggests workouts I can do on that day based on my history without any consideration of what my objectives are or where I am in a progression. Among the three options it gives (and sometimes it gives different options if I hit it again) I need to decide what fits the best.

It looks like things are actually all working as they should. :technologist:

The new workout recommender tool built into TrainNow uses something completely different than the old Workout Levels to determine which workout is best for you.

While it might seem strange that the levels vary quite a bit, just know that it’s working correctly and that we believe this is a better tool than what was in place before.

We encourage you to give those workouts a shot to see how they feel. If you have any feedback for us, let us know!

Hm, ok, let’s assume that’s true: How would I measure my progress with that?

Speaking for myself only of course, but increasing my PL’s step by step is what makes TR motivating for me.
So now if I’d follow TN that would go away. And I feel it could be the smartest workout proposals in the world, but if I have nothing to strive for, I doubt I’d buy into it.

But maybe I am missing something?
