We have a winter short track series I want to train have be my A race. It is 5 weeks long. I’m thinking that I wanted to be in A race shape for the first one and kind of ride my fitness into the rest. The plan makes sense to me, but for the remaining 4 weeks, it has be doing a recovery week after the A race, then into the Sweet Spot Base Mid Volume 1.
Does this make the most sense to maintain fitness throughout the month? I would assume I’d still do some sort of higher end workouts, or will my fitness carry me through after the first week? I know short track fitness is different than longer race/endurance fitness, I’m worried it would fall off of a cliff without higher end efforts I would be doing the whole month leading up to it.
