Training between low and mid volume

I’m doing SSB LV II and have time for an extra workout per week, though not the legs for the harder ones prescribed for the mid volume plan.

Are endurance rides here and there the most beneficial additions or would I be better off doing some VO2/threshold workouts of a shorter duration (just so I can save my legs)?


Take a look at how the mid volume plans are structured and you could add one of the Wednesday or Sunday workouts. Usually the notes say you can sub in a longer, endurance paced ride on Sunday if you don’t want to go the high tempo route. I think you’d get diminishing returns on an added threshold/VO2 workout.


That’s what I imagined. Though I don’t think I can handle the Sunday workouts yet. Maybe next year!
