TrainerRoad Outside Workouts on Wahoo ELEMNT

I remember some weirdness when I first set it up. There are two “Target Power” fields. One is under “target” and the other is under “planned workouts”. I think only one works(?) Maybe try the other one.

Thanks for that, will have a look into that so :+1:t3:

Thanks, I’ll give it a try this weekend.

While doing North Pack outside yesterday after I completed the 2 hours, and continued on, the workout automatically reloaded and restarted. This is the second time this has happened.

That was my experience as well, add both is easiest way to determine which is the correct one.

Try setting the section up on your display as target power but from the planned workouts section. Did it on mine and it works on all workouts pushed to my elemnt.

Here’s a screen of how I have it setup. It only works under Planned Workouts, when I tried to have it under a normal or custom screen the target power section would always show n/a

Hi, thanks very much for this - I made the changes and it worked! I must have selected the “wrong” target power field previously. Thanks!

Are the features the same between Garmin and Wahoo? I’m buying my first headunit (previously using forerunner 935) and want to get the one best suited for trainerroad

I loaded my workout today onto my ELEMNT Bolt for the first time and everything worked great. But now at home, I still see today’s workout queued in the calendar instead of it recognizing that the Wahoo workout WAS the TR workout. Anyone else had this issue?

Yes, I just had a similar problem: a pushed-to-outside workout failed to upload to TR. [It also did not load to Strava.]

If you want to upload the ride manually, then connect bolt to the computer with a usb; use Android File Transfer.app to upload the file from bolt to computer; then use Strava to manually upload the saved file; from there, TR will pull the workout.

It’s a bit of a pain, but it worked for me last night.

I’ve exactly the same issue. Were you able to solve it?
Wahoo pushed it to Strava and Trainingpeaks, but the workout does not show up in TrainerRoad.

I’ve done it since and not had the same issue. The only thing I can think that I did differently is that I set it up as an outside workout at least a day ahead of time.

It still requires you to dictate TSS ( at least if you’re using RPE) after the fact. I bet the functionality is better with a Power Meter.

This is so freaking awesome. Training outside is so much better.
It works inside as well. No more laptop or phone needed.

I’m using a power meter, the activity synced but it took a little longer than usual , so now it is working for me!

Thank you, I was frustrated and thought I had a defective Elmnt.

Is there a plan to have wahoo sync completed rides to TR directly (not go via Strava)? I believe this is what Garmin does so why not have wahoo send rides to TR directly so we can have the workout names etc in our calendar and it can appear as a planned workout? Wahoo works this way for trading peaks and others.

For me to get the names to sync I have turned off auto-sync on the wahoo companion app. I then edit the name of the workout in the app before it uploads to Strava. That way it gets changed once and uploaded with the new name everywhere Strava syncs to.

Thanks @stickmandj, I had thought of that but it’s a lot of mucking around. I really like the TR analysis tool but the lack of a two way sync with Wahoo means an outside workout is not treated the same as a regaular planned workout and that really limits the usability of the TR analytics platform. I just don’t get why it was implemented as a one way connection. It’s just really strange… Is there anyone from TR that can comment on why this was done and if there are plans to improve the integration?

On the workout screen is there anyway I can turn 3s power to 5 or 10?

On the wahoo unit you can change any of the fields you want including 5s power. Unfortunately it doesn’t have 10s power which I think would be a bit better for smoothing on outside rides.

To change 3s power to 5s power, in the companion app go to pages, planned workouts and then tap on 3s power. You then navigate to the power section, power over time and select 5s power. It will then replace the 3s power field with your new choice.
