TrainerRoad Outside Workouts Now Push to Garmin Edge šŸŽ‰

Yes it works now after repairing my phone :hugs:

Can Garmin Edge 130 use TR outdoor feature?

I’m not sure. If it supports workouts, then it will work.

Hi everyone—

I’m using a garmin edge 520 head unit. If I’m doing a workout, and accidentally hit the lap button which moves me to the next interval, does anyone know if there is a way to go back to the previous lap/interval?

I believe that’s only possible on a Wahoo head unit. Garmin does not have that functionality.

Is there no way to turn off the annoying out of zone messages when doing an outside workout on a Garmin headunit? I’m using the edge 1000. I’ve turned all alerts off on the unit but these workout ones still pop up. They take up a good portion of the screen and are really annoying.

Turn off workout alerts in the activity profile and there is an option to redo workout step from the menu whilst mid workout on a garmin.

These are the options in the activity profile. No option for workout alerts. Is that something only on newer garmin devices? I’ve looked but I can’t see any such option. It’s really annoying.

Looks like it. The 530 has a workout alert on/off option in that menu

When i had a 520, i think i had Tones turned off to avoid the sounds for the alerts. Not a great workaround as the interval start/finish prompts are lost too

You can’t on the 520. I’ve had this happen twice and didn’t sort out a workaround. Most likely one would stop, and restart the workout.

I think someone mentioned upthread that you can do it on the 530.

THANK YOU. :slightly_smiling_face:

What buttons can I use during a workout?
I’ll be doing Dade+1 outside later today - 9 intervals of 2:30 VO2Max each.
I want to make sure I’m on a road where I can ride 2:30 min straight without having to break or take a turn, so I’d like to be able to pause during the recovery periods before the next interval starts.

Is that possible?

Yeah should be, after the recovery section you usually have to press the lap button to start the next interval

Yes between the sets, but is there also the option to pause within sets during those shorter recoveries?

Just got myself an Edge 520 and have installed Garmin Connect on my iPhone. I have a scheduled workout for today which has been pushed to my Connect calendar (I can verify this via the iOS app). However, when I navigate to my ā€˜Training Calendar’ on my Edge 520 it says:

ā€œNo scheduled workouts saved. Go to Garmin Connect at www.garminconnect.com to schedule and download workouts.ā€ Likewise, if I go to the ā€˜Workouts’ section on my 520 it says ā€œNo workouts saved. Go to Garmin Connect at www.garminconnect.com to schedule and download workouts.ā€

According to iOS Bluetooth my phone and Garmin are connected, so what gives?

Try forcing a sync by clicking the icon in upper right of Garmin Connect.

That worked, thanks, Brian.

Sweet! I haven’t used my 520 in almost a year, but IIRC the 530 seems faster and more communicative when syncing (well, and faster at everything). Plus the workout stuff is better (graphical displays). Just saying, if you ever come across a good deal on the 530. FWIW.

I somehow convinced Garmin to give me a refurb 520 in exchange for a broken 520 that a buddy gave me ($0) so that is a deal that cannot be beat. From what I’ve seen TR integration on a 530 looks quite a bit better than on the 520, though. I’ll have to make it work!
