A little background. I am a 59 year old male and have been training consistently for the last 3 years. 2 years with a coach, 6 months self coached and since January using the AI version of TR. At first TR had estimated my FTP way low. I contacted support on it and they acknowledged that it may because of a bug where the system was not recognizing outdoor rides properly or something along those lines . In any case I created a training plan and gave it a go using the recommended workouts (lower watts) and soon found that TR adjusted the wattage up based on my RPE responses. The following workouts were much closer to what I expected and saw a 30 watt bump in FTP after the first month (AI FTP initially predicted a much lower FTP 25-32 +/- watts lower than what I had tested ). Some of things I really enjoy is how I can block out time as I do shift work. I work remotely and have access to Smart Trainers at work so being able to load up TR and continue to train based on my schedule is awesome. Any adjustments I need to make based on schedule are handled and future workouts adjusted to match my schedule. I also like that when home I can easily change a workout to an outdoor ride and after each ride I can see my training plan adjust based on RPE responses. I love how adaptable is. The workouts always feel like the right amount of work and I have yet to fail. My last month saw a 6 watt bump in FTP and the next bump is another 7 when I complete my next block. I have only had one issue where an old ride with bad power data is showing up on my power record screen and even though I deleted it , it is still showing up. I have contacted support on this and they acknowledge it as a possible bug and should clear. Overall, I am very happy with the new TR and it’s flexibility and ability to choose the correct workout based on my power. I feel very positive about the gains I have seen in the short term and anticipate being able to reach my goal of a FTP close to 280 or higher by the end of the year (currently 247 at 70kg ) I have seen huge gains in my predicted VO2 max from Garmin (56 currently as high as 58) which confirms the gains I am seeing from my training program. Having a program such as TR has been instrumental and great for me as my schedule changes a lot with work and travel. Great job TrainerRoad!

30w gain in a month sounds like a AI correction from the initial ftp detect. Hopefully it catches up and starts to give you sensible monthly values
Congrats, coincidentally I was looking back at 2025 earlier, for various reasons you can’t quite compare but this year has been both
- A quick ramp back up in watts during base
- More dialled workouts, had a lot more ‘all out’ and borderline fails this time a year ago
And as you say, it’s easier to make decisions when matching the schedule to life.
