These new features are super cool thanks @Nate_Pearson and company.
The technology here is so interesting and genuinely one of the best applications of AI in a consumer product I’ve seen. Something resoundingly positive and beneficial for most users.
Reading some of the posts in this thread I am left wondering why people are getting so stressed out.
It’s just riding a bike folks - maybe try the new feature for a while and see how you get on?
Per many comments in multiple threads, you can’t compare old FTP to the new FTP. You just got a new scale that is better than your old scale. Your wieight didn’t change it is just a better measurement. I would encourage you to listen to the two podcasts that dropped today. They will clear up a LOT if the confusion. I recommend accepting and moving forward. That’s what I did in the beta (my ftp “dropped”) and the training has been great since then.
As a 65 year old triathlete (40 years of consistent training) and 13 year TR user, I was skeptical when my “FTP” was increased by nearly 10%. I was apprehensive about the prescribed threshold workout today. While hard, I completed it and set a 3+ year 6:00 power record. So far, I am impressed with the changes.
I have been using it for a few weeks, saw and immidiat drop of FTP by 3.5 %, and most of my questions are answered here, the biggest learning is to stop seeing FTP as a target, but more as a tools to train in the proper intensity to get the best results. Thanks for the support and dedication.
Since the new update my FTP was increased from 306 to 322. however when i go into my career page TR AI predicts ‘if’ i complete all my scheduled workouts, my ftp will actually DECREASE to 318 - this decrease would occur if i follow the exact training plan trianeroad has laid out for me, which is somewhat confusing.
just yesterdy, after completeing ym 2.5hr z2 ride, it said my FTP would fall to 296?
I trust the process fully and have been using TR for 10 years, so this is not a critisicm i love you guys! I am just a little confused?
Any help and/or advice would be greatly appreciated!
Congrats, Team TR, amazing work! Super interesting play with it over the last few days, while also watching all the podcasts and reading the hundreds of comments.
Two initial questions:
During heavy travel times or crazy life/work periods, I often jump on the bike whenever I can and really leverage TrainNow. Great feature, huge fan of not having to think about ride selection when I have very limited time. How can those of us without formal plans on the calendar best leverage the new AI-enabled features? Am I right in sensing that most of the benefits are predicated on having a plan on the books (even if it’s the new open-ended calendar entries)?
I recently had a formal VO2 Max test (plus RMR and LT) test done. Is there any way I can or should leverage that data with this new system?
Or you do 90 minute effort on Sunday at 270 watts only for it to tell you 4 days later than you need to change your ftp to 230…. Not a great first impression
i’m very much invested in the idea that i should be able to hold my ftp in a fresh, fuelled state for 40-60 mins, without blowing up. i can do that with my current ftp and ftp detection aligns. the ftp prediction of 273 going to 302 for a 10+ year athlete seems highly unrealistic. can anyone from the beta testers, confirm such improvement if the plan is adhered to? 4 weeks and +10%?? really
so @jazir1979@LacticacidMCB you guys were right. adding a new plan does actually help, however, it is kind of strange – based on my experience in the past – to lose even a single watt after going through specialty phase. so the gameplan is not to have a recovery week
Your training approach on that screenshot is ‘demanding’ - I’m not sure if it’s the same prior to that, but try setting it to ‘balanced’ and see what that does to your prediction. More often than not in the beta this change improved predicted outcomes.
PC version of TR will not allow me to load a workout. I can view details of a workout. That’s all.
As this was a 5.45am effort I switched to using my Android phone for the first time. When I wanted to decrease the percentage range. This stayed on the screen for the whole workout. Also no beeps at start and finish of each effort.
At the end of this workout there was no ability to add additional time also.
Ticket raised. Not reassuring that the response says there is a higher than normal ticket volume.
A long time user of TR, possibly as far back as 2013. This is the most buggy upgrade TR has done.
Disappointing from my point of view. In my profession I get paid for sorting out other people’s problems. Seems in software world it is the customer who pays.
I’m sure TR will sort this all out at some point. If I hadn’t paid an annual fee MyWhoosh would be very attractive right now.
