This plan builder cannot be correct?

No matter how many times I try to replace it, it starts my specialty on the first week of the races. That cannot be right? You need to be prepared earlier than that. And it makes the week of racing a bit hard. And it keeps flipping my long rides back to 1 hour 30 for 4 hour races. There is no way I can be prepared for 4 hours of hills with an hour and a half of rides in my legs.

Have you entered your A/B/C events to calendar? This is how Plan Builder generates personalized phases and tapering weeks, to peak your fitness for races.

I’ve just created a new plan myself for an event in May 2025 and it’s got me doing Peters, Ophir and The Chimneys +4 on the week of my A race. Not sure I’ll have 120 miles and 10000 feet of climbing in me after a week like that

Hey @litifeta

I took a look at your training plan, and all looks well. Plan Builder builds your training plan leading up to your A Event, so you peak then. Plan Builder does not taper you for B Event, so this means you will not be fully peaked for these races, but these events will be excellent trials of your fitness, and you can still be very competitive in these events.

Here is a little more info on Plan Builder and A B C Events:

Note: As far as the 1:30 Outside Endurance rides go, these are intentional as these are meant to be more of a recovery day.

At TR, we are strong believers that you don’t need to ride for hours on end to be able to complete a 4-hour race or, say, a century  Instead, the most efficient and effective way to train is to complete high-quality structured workouts strengthening the energy systems needed for such a long ride.

That said, we do recommend you do a few longer endurance rides to test gear, hydration, nutrition, etc… before race day!

I know I’ve already answered your inquiry via email  But for the sake of providing info in our open forum space where another athlete may be having the same question, I’ll go ahead and post my answer here as well:

What you have now for the Specialty Phase is not set. As you start completing the training plan, your Progression Levels will update and start dictating adaptations to your training plan on the given phase you’re currently in. So, when you hit the Specialty Phase, you’ll most likely be given adaptations to accept. That said, we can touch base once we’re close to your A Event to see how all is looking
