I have mixed feelings about this, but ultimately I like the longer shows. Now, if we could get a show that was just Amber, that would be the best, lololololoololol. ![]()
Is this out yet? I haven’t been able to find it. Looking forward to it!
I think they’ve said it’s been difficult for scheduling with Covid and everything. It should pop into your feed when it comes out and I’m sure they’ll make a big announcement since this a big project they’ve been working with lots of interest.
Answer to op: yes.
Too much talk of mitochondria and junk that doesn’t mean anything to the average person. And also too much talking about the narrators personal races and equipment. A little bit is okay but do we have to hear about one of them buying a new bike on every single episode, and also all the talk of cape epic?
Podcast is just right. Need material to listen to on 2-4hr rides in the summer and it can’t all cerebral stuff that’s normally my bag. So wax on about bikes, equipment, race recaps, tease @Nate_Pearson, whatever, definitely helps me pass the time. I probably fall behind in the winter, though, but that’s more the weather and my fault than anything else.
The presenters chat about their week is my favourite part. Have been listening for so long it feels like a mini soap opera. Am looking forward to all the upcoming Cape Epic discussion.
I love the podcasts! I use it during my long workouts! Keep up the good job Guys!
i agree… some of those parts add serious comedy value which i truly enjoy
I would have initially said yes it is too long. But it’s perfect for me to listen to on those 2 hour workouts without running out of content.
I prefer the new 2 hour cap. Still allows lots of discussion and tangents, but keeps it to a manageable length for weekly listens.
I think it is supposed to be a different feed. I am going through the back catalog and listening out of order, so I have no idea what is actually happening right now, lol.
But yeah, it comes out when it comes out. ![]()
Thanks for all the feedback. As this thread has mentioned here’s some stuff we’ve changed recently.
- 90 minutes of prepared questions/discussions then 30 minutes of live.
- Try to distill deep dives and not go too deep, but still understand the “why” and get some takeaways from it.
- More diverse guest lineup. Y’all are going to love the guest two episodes from now.
- And as always, we try to not interrupt each other, but it does happen a bit more lately on zoom.
Much appreciated, Nate. This type of interaction, and your willingness to make adjustments from them, are quite possibly the most valuable aspect of working with TR. ![]()
Hi all, I’ve been a long time listener to the podcast. I’m more than happy with the content and the timings of the podcast. A few mentioned the 15 minute intros, personally I really like that bit of banter and chat. It lets you into the personality of the presenters and coaches a bit more and adds the personal touch.
I listen to lots of cycling related podcasts but the TR one will always be one of the first I listen to in my feed. Thanks for all the great content TR ![]()
I also super like the new condensed topic bits on YouTube. Makes it much easier to digest the useable info than when it’s in the middle of 2 hours of other stuff
This Thread: Is it too long?
How has this thread gone from a brief discussion about podcast length to the 175+ post monster it’s now become?
I used to look forward to it back in May, but now it’s a chore and really puts me off reading everyone’s opinions.

They do this! Check out the TR youtube channel and they have started breaking out the podcast by topics.
The Podcast: is it too short?
I always look forward to a new podcast each week, it helps pass the commute nicely. I‘d wish it‘d be a bit longer though, so I didn‘t have to replay old episodes too often ![]()

Some of us like the deep dive into the minutiae of what is too long or too short, you know there is always a scroll button to get to the latest posts ![]()
Joking aside, I just checked my podcast listening history and some of them I have listened all the way through, some I have only half finished, and some I have never even started! I’ve also never watched them on you tube, crazy times eh?
I’m firmly in the “just here to hang” camp, make em as long as you want.
If I had to say one thing, maybe it’s just to billboard the takeaways a bit more after the longer deep dives? Sometimes I do lose the thread a bit especially when we are in the weeds on the bio or chem, and realize I missed the conclusion. (A daily occurrence for me in school years ago)
On the plus side, I am so grateful not to have to skip the first two minutes for ads, or find my phone and skip for ad breaks. The ad-free format is so refreshing.
