Nice to hear what their approach is, but no clear direction and that will come on a case by case basis.

Our little social group (8 guys) that travel every year to races just had this discussion. The feeling was Ironman will put it off if possible with very little regard with how comfortable an athlete is attending.
The take home message is: we are doing our best, the races will happen when they can. Until then, we will postpone them, even if it means your 2020 registration will be fulfilled in 2026, and under no circumstances whatsoever will we return the athlete’s money. Can’t make your race across the world with travel restrictions and 3 years after you registered for it? Too bad!
