So I’m getting back into TrainerRoad Sub after using the TrainerDays Free App on and off the past 2 yrs. I was only doing 30min but on most days with 3-4 varying intensity’s using an FTP of 270. I then start my TR plan but I know I’m not a rounded 270FTP rider and set it at FTP250 also my sessions are 45mins - 1:15mins another reason I dropped the FTP, I start my Plan and find everything except Threshold ok to handle e.g. Auburn, whilst I completed it both times, both times I have to stop for 15secs over my handlebars in the middle of the 2-3-4 intervals. Now I do think I’m not as mentally strong as I was 3-4ys back when I hit my all time best FTP 302 for the 20min test. But, now I’m reducing and reducing my AI ftp after both these Auburn session, its 239 now. I don’t mind but is the FTP skewed at my Threshold & VO2Max session or how I can handle them but then my Sweetspot and endurance now feel too easy? Any thoughts or advise on this please?
Auburn should be pretty straightforward unless your FTP is set way too high ![]()
Are you sure you haven’t got any equipment issues going on?
What are the workout levels for your last sweetspot and VO2max workouts you completed?
It shouldn’t be that hard. You may want to just do a ramp test so you can set your FTP a little more accurately.
JUst did a 45min easy session Birch Avg watts 157 HR112 compared to 2 other similar in avgs with Baxter -2 being the closest Watts 153 but if you look at HR for all 3, todays is much lower and it felt very easy.
Issue was I hadn’t calibrated since I re-joined TR! The moment I started the session after calibrating at 120wats it was like I wasn’t able to get a gear to allow me to keep it at 120.
So whilst I think I’m still not at the 270FTP, I think I’ll be able to handle the Threshold/sweet-spots at my 239FTP and I’ll build from there.
