SS is killing me and my progress

sweet spot training does seem to be off in the estimate, as in the same week i might have a VO2 Max ranked “Very Hard” which i’ll be able to complete and mark as “Very Hard”, while SS is estimated “Hard” and i’ll just die. the thing is that now i’ll rank SS as “Very Hard” and ai will go down with the effort, but it’ll do it for everything, this also go down with vo2 max and threshold sessions.

for instance the week in april starting 27.

It looks like things are getting back on track as of now. You’ve got a hard threshold workout coming up, and you passed both of your SS workouts this week, with the most recent one being a high-level workout that you rated “hard” instead of very hard.

That slight drop in FTP likely helped. :+1:

Let me know how that threshold workout goes on Saturday! You’ve got this!! :flexed_biceps:

hi. but the drop in ftp (or lower effort i guess) was not what i wanted for anything but ss sessions.

Your ftp is too high. Lower it 10W and you will get faster and enjoy the workouts more.

don’t get hung up on a number.

In your training plan you can customize the approach per zone. For example, you could change Sweet Spot from balanced to moderate.

Whilst relying on AI FTP, I found my sweetspot workouts soon became threshold workouts. The solution was just to rely on what I believe my FTP to be, and disregard the AI recommendation. In my experience, it has always been way too high. It is frustrating given it could be such a beneficial feature, but it just doesn’t seem to work for some of us, unfortunately.

that’s exactly what i need. thank you.

I’m not sure that is going to help much as it will just slow the increase. You rated a 5.9 Hard when your post says it was very hard if not harder. You may want to rate it appropriately after you change your SS settings.
