Can I create a route and wirelessly send it to my Garmin?
No you pay a one of charge for WK05.
Helps to have TP even at basic level to synch all your data into But after the initial payment you have top of the range analytics for everâŠ
I get that change can be difficult for people but it honestly surprises me a bit that people who seem to appreciate the things that Strava has offered to them are like, âscrew you, Iâm deleting my account.â I think $60 a year is a pretty reasonable price for the service offered and if you think about all the things most people waste their money on itâs really a pretty unsubstantial investment. I can understand a little bit that people are grappling with the change from being free to no longer being free but just think of it as you got a 6 year free trial or something.
I am pretty sure this still works.
GARMIN CONNECT IQ APP AND RIDE WITH GPS
IF you have an edge unit that has connect IQ capability then yes. I have an Edge 830 and I use RWGPS all the time and then just download it to my headunit all wirelessly.
@ericallenboyd 's post has the directions to set it up and download your routes.
But some people just voice their displeasure every chance they get, like OK, we get it, no need to rehash it over and over.
Also âworseâ is subjective, I think theyâve added a lot of good stuff but also taken some good things away. What I donât like on this site is this elitist attitude like we are all such serious racers and cannot be bothered with the likes of Strava since its for amateur segment chasing plebs.
Yes, ridewithgps syncs wirelessly with Garmin using an IQ app, and directly with Wahoo. I mostly use the Wahoo, so thatâs what Iâm most familiar with.
I pay for ridewithgps, as you get more of the route planning features (like editing an existing route, etc.) than with the free version. Last time I checked you could still do basic route planning for free. A couple of years ago I had a gripe with them removing some of their free route planning features (moved to paid), and sent an email to them. I got a very thoughtful response from one of the founders, and I have been paying since then. I think the balance they have struck between free and paid regarding the route planner is more reasonable than what Strava has done. You can still plan routes, and if you only do a few a year then free is fine. If you make more and/or what more sophisticate features, then I think it is worth paying for.
Both ridewithgps and Strava need to make money somehow, but quite frankly I feel better about giving my money to ridewithgps than strava.
This is what happens when a website wastes half a decade making absolutely no valuable upgrades (and even removing some useful features like connecting bluetooth accessories to their mobile app) and then they are finally looking at no longer having enough money to survive so they have to quickly come up with a new revenue stream. I have seen a noticeable improvement in the last couple of months with communication of their new features and making changes since their founders came back to the company. But it seems like that may have been a bit too late and now they have to play catch up.
My POV also. For me, strava is frivolous entertainment and summer months only entertainment at that. It would be a waste of my money to buy an annual sub if I only use it (sporadically) 25% of the time; equates to ~$20/mo. I can waste my money on doughnuts and beer 365 days of the year without a subscription.
Most people wonât want that particular feature bad enough to pay for it. The bulk of their community resides in the bottom 95% of the KoM rankings. Not many will pay to see if they are 1509th or 1508th in the current KoM standings⊠hell, most Strava users I know donât even look at the standings. Itâs mostly just their fitness social media platform. They should embrace and monetize that, IMO.
This doesnât move the needle for me. If anything, Iâm less likely to use Strava at all after this, let alone pay for it. I can work around the data transfer feature.
Seriously some of this anti Strava crap is as annoying as that one friend who never misses a chance to tell everyone heâs vegan.
âWhat did you do today Dave?â
âTook the family for a picnicâ
âOh yea Ive actually been vegan since last yearâ
I bathe in doughnuts.
Any more lifestyle questions?
Is your friend vegancyclist? ![]()
Agreed. Almost makes people seem kinda greedy/ungrateful. Clearly you enjoy the service if youâve been using it this long, whatâs another $5 a month? Thatâs a cup of coffee
you can only say this for so long until you pay 100+ $ of subscription fees every month
Personally, I think RideWithGPS is the best route planner on the market. I only ever used Stravaâs for heatmaps, especially because Strava route for have turn by turn embedded in them.
I have a jacuzzi tub so sprinkles are out as prolonged agitation sends those little bits flying everywhere. Canât go wrong with the soothing sensations of jelly-filled and powdered. Doughnut holes always provide a unique experience. Experimentations is always encouraged. ![]()
Whatâs this strava thing? ![]()
Tyler isnât annoying like that. The elitist attitudes in here are though. Donât want to use Strava? Donât use it. Donât want to be on Facebook? Donât be on Facebook. No need to remind everyone about how you donât do what they do, because youâre just too serious. Some of you need to lighten up, lot of Chuck McGills in here and I guess Iâm Jimmy. Come down to my level for a day and roll around in the mud!
While I donât think it is the best thought out plan after reading and thinking Iâll not cancel my sub.
With hopefully an influx of funds weâll see something interesting.
Most people think itâs a fairly crappy product overall is my feeling.
