im finishing up my last work week on an 8wk build plan. recovery next week then the following week i start a custom plan to prepare me for the vancouver-whistler fondo in september. there isnt the time for a full 12wk base, 8wk build, 8wk specialty so obviously the plan has had to adjust to this. the way its done it is a bit strange in my eyes though.
wks 1 and 2 - Work
wk 3 - recovery
wk 4, 5 and 6 - work
wk 7 - recovery
wk 8 - work
wk 9 - recovery
am i not going to potentially lose fitness with so much recovery? particularly the 2 weeks out of 3 in the final 3 wks of base. would 3x3wk blocks work better? just 2 recovery weeks our of the 9 ttal weeks? i dont know. i’ll follow the plan regardless but it just got me wondering why its done this way. Does the build block im currently in have something to do with the rest week after just 2 weeks? if i nail my threshold on friday then my ftp will have risen from 335-349 in the 8 weeks build which is a hefty bump and a personal best.
Build and specialty are in 4wk blocks as expected
