Hi, I’ve been using TR for a couple of years on and off. I unsubscribed 6 months ago as it was always telling me to rest. I went back to TR the other week as I have a big event coming up and again it’s telling me rest more than ride. What settings have a got set incorrect. I feel great a usually spend alot more time on the bike than TR wants me to do. Thanks

No. I give up. ![]()
Please post screenshots of the last 4 weeks and next 4 weeks from your TR calendar or provide a link to your calendar (having set it to Public)
OP, when setting up your plan you can customize the days and available time you want to train. Have you done this?
What’s your TR username? We can look into it for you.
Hi Jonathan,
User name is glenl.
Thanks it would be a great help.
Ive been using Rouvy alot over this winter and you can feel when you a climbing etc as great weight on the pedals.
When I use TR and want to push watts, I don’t get that same weight feed back. My trainer gas been updated etc. The only way I can get watts is through cadence and I end up spinning out.
Any ideas? Or information to read.
Cheers
The reason it is showing yellow and red days is because it is trying to meet you where you’re at and bring you up.
Looking at your training, it’s really common for you to do a week with less than 2hrs, then do a couple weeks between 3-6 hrs, but then back to missing a week.
Additionally, ride duration is highly variable, and structure is rare.
Considering all of that and that you are a masters athlete, TrainerRoad AI knows that it needs to meet you where you are at and start lower, then build up over time. This might mean that you rest more than you anticipated, but it will provide a better long term trajectory.
Looking at your calendar, since you started your plan on Feb 5, you did 1/3 scheduled workouts.
-
Jan 5: 1hr Endurance was prescribed but you did double that TSS in 1hr12min
-
Jan 7: Crushed your 1hr Threshold OU workout. It was predicted to be moderate, but you marked it as Easy. This is great input for the model as it locks you in.
-
Jan 8: 2hr Endurance at 83TSS was prescribed but you did 3hr54min at 297 TSS instead (literally over 4x prescribed)
-
Because of this today is marked red, and the next two days are marked as yellow.
Here’s the key thing: The training plan it is building for you isn’t prescribing 4hr 297TSS hard rides yet, because it knows that would cause a ton of fatigue and make it so if you did go straight into hard workouts within a couple days after that, it would put you on a long term trajectory toward fatigue.
If you stick to the prescribed plan, you’ll see results. It’s literally simulating your training for you, so you can trust it–no guesswork.
This is 100% a guess, but I wonder if your trainer is connecting to both TR and Rouvy simultaneously and causing some kind of weird situation with your power connection. My suggestion is to turn off the Bluetooth connection between the trainer and every other device except the one connected to TR. You may even have to turn the other devices completely off or “forget” the Bluetooth connection. Once you’ve gotten to where TR “feels right” with the trainer and you’re not spinning out, you can start turning the other devices back on one by one until you find the culprit.
This is a really common scenario, and if you are only paired to TR, just make sure your trainer is in ERG mode.
