New bars show up for the roadbike today - i’ll need to wrap them in something. Why do you rock the bar tape you rock?
Super Cheap?

I’m planning to go back to enve bar tape. It’ll be on sale at REI soon.
Lizard Skin has been the most comfortable for me. I don’t like the way it looks, though.
I just picked up the Silca bar tape. It was $50 at my local bike shop but DUDE!! so worth it haha. Its not ‘squishy’ but its comfortable and absorbs vibration. The texture isn’t ‘sticky’ but rather grippy. I wish it came in other colors but black bar tape is fine. I will say it looked better before I got caught in the rain. It was bound to happen but I can tell a difference, in looks alone, performance is the same before & after rain.
I’d agree with this. I’ve been through lots of different bar tape brands over the years and the Silca stuff is, for me, definitely the best
Supacaz’s sticky Kush
A few years ago I got a killer deal, discount, plus 2 for 1. I bought like 10 sets in different styles. While this might not be the best, it seems to work as well as any other high end tape. I do double wrap the area between the hoods and flats for a more kushy feel.
Disclaimer: I have been known to use duct tape or electrical tape to cover bar tape as it begins to wear thin.
I’ve used Lizard Skins for a long time, loved it (2.5mm version). Decided to try the SILCA, also really good for gravel!
On my roadie, I still have the original Canyon bartape, after 3 years it is still going strong!
I couldn’t remember what I have but I was like for some reason that name sounds like what someone would call it and google image search confirms this.
I have had it on about a year and like it personally.
Zipp CX tape. best texture of any tape I’ve tried
If it has stars on it, it’s Supacaz.
Enve is the GOAT. Supercaz also up there. Best budget = Zipp
It’s good to ride with. Removal can be a PITA if the adhesive is wrapped onto the bars (as opposed to on itself).
Im liking Ergon’s stuff right now. It’s got a little more grip and tack than Silca, and hasn’t been a huge mess to remove so far.
Fizik Tempo. The smooth thick stuff, but I also wear full finger gloves even in summer. Just a carry over habits from motorcycle riding and racing.
BBB GravelRibbon BHT-16
No text or writing, pretty thick so good dampening, easy to wrap, nice texture.
Kush. Need I say more!

Not going to list any brands, but there are huge weight differences between the bar tapes. Some good tapes are just over 50 grams, some are more than 100 grams and some ”comfort” tapes even more than 200 grams. I understand this is not an issue for everybody, but many riders have paid extra to get light components, so why choose a heavy tape then.
Syntace Cork Tape. Love the comfortable grip. Never gets slippery.
Subscribed.
Used the original for ca. 2 years and then it started shifting to expose the cockpit, at the edges where I often rest my palms. Now have lizard skins not quite 2 years and same thing. Marginally more comfortable but not ground-breaking so I want to try a different brand now just to see what’s out there.
I’ve been using this tape on both my bikes for the last few years. Cheap, grippy even with no gloves, stretchy and easy to install and remove (no glue residue), lasts long after it is too nasty to keep using, and is available in a lot of colors. Weighs 71 grams with the included plugs. I spend the savings on good tires.
I got og evkin and it’s surprisingly thick and sticky. Not sure about longevity yet since i only installed it about 3 weeks ago
I’ve heard this may be similar (same?) as the Cannondale Knurltack that came with my Supersix Evo and I’ve been happy with it. Liking it better than Supacaz I’d been using for the last few years.
