Good catch, yes! I had that one as well on my Cannondale. Couldn’t for my life find it online, tried the BBB and it was 99% the same ![]()
Yeah, for me it doesnt make sense to have a handlebar tape that is thin as paper, hence the BBB is perfect.

I’ve ridden for many years, and working as a bike mechanic for 5 years, I wrapped a lot of bars with a wide variety of bar tape. My preference is for simple EVA foam tape (sometimes called cork). I find it works very well with dry or sweaty hands. It’s easy to wrap, last longer, and looks good longer (if black) than many fancy/expensive tapes that have a tacky or leathery top layer.
Funny enough, this is the tape that I just removed from the bars i’m replacing and prompted my ‘there must be something better’ conversation.
I’ve used Supercaz on other bikes and been happy, though find it gets quite dirty and difficult to clean.
Still up in the air right now.
Glad it’s not just me. I loved the Silca stuff I had on my gravel bike but removing it was AWFUL because I wrapped it with the adhesive just past the previous wraps edge. It came off in endless tiny pieces.
I picked up some of the thicker Ergon for my new gravel build and haven’t used it yet but looking forward to it.
It seems I’m the minority, but I don’t like Supacaz. I find it falls apart/wears fast, is easy to rip, and I’m just not a huge fan of the feel. For the price, definitely better options imo.
I’m with you. I bought a bunch of rolls on sale, so I’ll be using it for a while, but I am planning to go back to the thick Lizard Skins tape when I run out of the Supacaz. The Lizard stuff has a downside too though in that the layers separate. I have yet to find the perfect thick and cushy tape that lasts and isn’t slippery, so I’ve been following this thread.
Another vote for Supacaz Sticky Kush. Unfortunately, I recently replaced the Sticky Kush on my road bike with some Supacaz carbon looking tape. It’s not sticky, and it’s not cush. It does look cool, but I wouldn’t get it again.
Was in the bike shop getting the sram thinga-majig to finish off my bar swap and just picked up some black supercaz because it was there and I knew it wasn’t bad… Now my wrap job - thats a sad state.
Supacaz is unusually challenging to wrap.
No Joke - I think warming it up first would have helped it wrap better… Not much stretch to it either.
ENVE (3mm) - Love this stuff and my favorite so far. Grippy and nicely cushioned. Super easy to wrap. Even the included textured finishing tape is high quality and ties everything together (much better than electrical tape).
Fizik Vento Solocush Tacky 2.7mm - As the name suggests, it’s tacky and grippy. Longevity is questionable considering the area near my hoods started wearing away after only a year on a bike that gets ridden every other week at best.
Zipp Service Course CX - Great texture, value, and longevity, but the material itself is stiff and doesn’t feel compliant compared to others in higher price brackets.
Yeah the gravel ribbon and race ribbon for a thinner Version are great value. And I second @FrankTuna the Cannondale knurl tack is also s great option like it a bit better then the BBB but it’s cheaper and easier to get around here.
Used lizard skin which is good but doesn’t look great and doesn’t last long for me.
Surprised not to see PRO in here. Used the race comfort in the past and was a big fan. Just put on the gravel comfort eva and I’m loving it so far! Pretty affordable too.
I recently installed 3mm Selle Italia SG-Tape on my road bike after using Supacaz Super Sticky Kush for years. Only a couple of months in so far, but I’m really liking it and prefer it over the Supacaz.
If you haven’t tried Burgh Cycling’s tape, you absolutely need to. It’s a little company out of Tasmania, I got one of their tapes through their support of my racing team, and it’s been 12 months and it’s barely worn. Amazing.
I totally rate supakaz too, but it didn’t last as long as Burgh.
+1 on the Burgh cycling bartape. I think they also have the best designs. They are expensive though.
Another vote for the Silva Nastro Cuscino in the thickest thickness. Kind of annoying to wrap because it’s so thick but lasts decently long and comfortable. Looks good too. For a budget black tape Zipp SC CX is great.
