Same workout twice in first 2 weeks

Start my specialty phase in Master’s Cross Country Olympic next week. My workout on tuesday the first 2 weeks is the same, Capricorn. A V02 max workout with the same PL. I know I can change it but you think program would offer a bit more variety to keep you interested.

You’ll do a lot of the same workouts. And when your FTP goes up you’ll do them again, they’ll just be slightly harder as all the workouts are at a certain percentage of FTP.

I have done the exact same vo2 max workout for years now lol. If it was SST or similar I would worry about lacking progression of time in zone but for vo2 max 5x5 is plenty.

I wouldn’t stress this much. It’s quite likely that after you do the first round of it and rate it, AT will switch it out for something else.

Ive been doing TR since 2013, don’t ever recall being given same workout twice in two weeks…maybe spread out a bit more.

If the workout gives you the stimulus needed for improvement why have it change every week?

I would think to increase your PL and training stress…not to mention variety is the spice of life right? 1000’s of workouts in the library.

Just because there are 1000s of workouts in the library does not necessitate using them or mean that they are all quality training sessions.

If your goal is to raise vo2 max simply doing some intervals maximally is plenty. There is no reason to get fancy by changing the workout every week and in fact doing so makes it more difficult to track improvements.

Then go change it for a different one.

I don’t think it’s realistic to expect every workout to be different. If you wanted to never repeat a workout more than once you would quickly run out of notably different workouts in the library or have workouts that are different in such minor ways they might as well be identical.

I will change it regardless…something with at least .2 or .3 PL increase for sure.

It’s likely that the second Capricorn will adapt to something else once you complete the first one. It’s not common to be prescribed workouts with the same Workout Levels in the same training zone two weeks in a row.

Depending on how your workout goes tomorrow, the second one will probably adapt to either an easier, or (more likely) harder workout.

So adaptions came through before I even did the workout that changed the workout next week to something with a higher PL. Divine intervention?
