Resistance level drops

Hello

I have been using Trainer Road on my 2015 MacBook Pro with my Kickr for over a year. Recently, Trainer road will not maintain the resistance on my workouts. It starts to ramp up and then drops. I connect using Ant and Bluetooth because not all of my sensors are Bluetooth. The cadence reading from the Kickr is off, so I use a Ant device for that.

I went through the support pages and tried all of the suggestions including connecting only using Bluetooth, reinstalling trainer road, turning off Bluetooth on any other devices, etc. The other strange thing is that it works intermittently. I had no issues on my Tuesday workout, but it would not work yesterday.

Thank you

Tim

That sounds like an issue with the trainer more than with TR. Connect it to the Wahoo app, verify if there’s no software update you can do and then run a workout in the Wahoo app.

This sounds like you have anther device fighting for connection and/or interference. If your MacBook is controlling your TR workout, make sure your phone doesn’t have the TR app open or some other device in the house. You can isolate this by turning off all Bluetooth devices (phone especially) within range of your Mac. Try to keep everything turned off initially (TV, Ipads, Phone, etc.) and just have your Mac and trainer powered on. This was my issue years ago.

My Suito is bad for that (resistance drops on ERG), my work around is to switch to resistance mode but I use the PC app and its just a key press to switch and switch back.

I appreciate everyone’s suggestions. I tried all of them yesterday and could not get it to work. Everything is up to date on my kickr as well. When I tried today, everything was working without issues.

I will continue to see what is interfering. It is still very odd that I never experienced this issue until last week.

I have a Kickr V5 and was having similar issues but with Bluetooth.

I had luck running Ant+ for everything with the Ant+ antenna right under the bike.

At the end I picked up the Direct connect module and now run it via Wifi, had luck so far.

Hey @timcru

I took a look at the backend data for your rides, and it looks like you have all these connections:

-Ethernet (DIRCON)
-Bluetooth
-ANT+

Ideally, you’d only use one as having too many connections can cause your issue

Let’s try only connecting your KICKR using Bluetooth as is our most reliable source and connecting your cadence sensor with ANT+ (not ideal, but you need it for the sensor).

Make sure not to connect DIRCON.
