Request: Maintain access to the old AI FTP Detection

As the old AI FTP Detection was predicting the result of a ramp test I’d still like a mechanism to approximate my FTP. I’d rather not have to go back to doing Ramp tests to get this measure.

aiFTP detection does not predict the result of a ramp test though.

Does AI FTP Detection predict my hour power or expected Ramp Test result?

AI FTP Detection isn’t meant to predict the results of any individual effort, because all-out efforts can be affected by nutrition, fatigue, and other subjective factors. Instead, it’s designed to give you a training benchmark (FTP) that represents the full scope of your abilities, so you get the most productive training possible.

I’m referring to the old (gen1) AI FTP that did predict the Ramp Test and was a reasonable assessment of your FTP.

So am I, this is about old ai ftp. According to TR that is not how it operated.

This is also directly quoted from TR. Not sure why they are changing their claims on it with the release of the new model, but it does make things a bit unclear.

(I think) the post you are referencing is talking about the new AI FTP Gen2.

It’s not. That is directly from the post of the original aiFTP detection release.

That was originally posted in late 2022.

Looks like that was deleted

ha! Madness.

My request still stands, I’d like to still have access to the old model… For me it was a good estimator of my FTP. Otherwise I’m back to doing ramp tests…

Yeah that’s fair, if it puts you in the right spot without testing then it would be a nice to have option.

I think what TR were saying is that an actual Ramp Test might not give the same result as the AI FTP Detection as other factors may interfere - such as nutrition, fatigue etc. i.e. the AI FTP Detection bases the number on a theoretically perfect execution of a Ramp Test.

I could be wrong of course.

The reason we aren’t going back to that type of model is that Ramp Tests have proven to be unreliable and inaccurate for FTP estimations for most athletes.

They were an okay option back then, but what we have in place is much better now, so we don’t recommend using ramp tests to set FTP anymore.

What would you use the result of your ramp test for?

As an estimate of my FTP for training, pacing etc.
